AD... I am 66 years old. Never have been taught with such thoroughness and, the sheer determination that we, the students, wholly understand what we are doing. It is a testimony of your enormous patience and eagerness to teach that I am always, humbled and, as yet again,. bow my head to you in gratitude and respect. thank you.

Since childhood I had been told that drawing was a God given gift, and as my drawing was awful, I always just admired others. Now at the late age of 52, I have learned that it is a practiced skill, yes, some see and learn quicker than others but in general, we can ALL LEARN to draw. I suppose it is style and ideas that are natural to a person. I have been trying all different tutorials all over the place to learn. Yours are incredibly detailed. I just bought both your books and am waiting with much impatience for them to arrive. I do have whimsical tendencies in my preferences but I am certain, learning realism will be a tremendous help not to mention structure. I hope I am not too late to become accomplished enough in drawing to to feel satisfied with my future pieces.

Back at the start of the pandemic, I came across one of your earlier videos and went and bought your book on Amazon. It, no YOU, have helped to make me a better artist, though I still have a long way to go. I think that the fact you are a teacher in your "day job" is a massive help in how you communicate your message. These videos are wonderful, and I look forward to watching more of them.

Hi Alphonso, I love your channel. I'm 63 years old. I hate that I stopped drawing years ago and now I'm trying to get back to it. When I started watching videos on youtube of various artist I was getting more and more lost and feeling over whelmed. The difference in you and the others is that you tell us the why, when and the how, and you do the best illustrations of the subject matter. Most of the others just tell you the how. Knowing the why and the when is just as important to help us make the dissensions we need to successfully put a proper drawing together. Thanks so much for taking the time to teach us in a way that anyone could understand. And by the way, I am going to purchase your book for sure.

these videos are teaching more than meets the eye. instead of diving into complex 3d planes for the head, you already grasp a strong sense of where the planar edges are, specifically for the lips. your beginner-oriented tutorials offer wonderful guidance and i can't wait to improve so i can see what your more advanced ones have to offer.

I've watched a few of your videos now. My attention has a tendency to wander if the information isn't coming fast enough, which I experience a little bit with your videos; however, I make myself be patience and I sit and I watch. Your videos are so worth it and I'm extremely grateful that youtube has deigned to offer up yours to me (probably because I'm looking at more drawing videos rather than painting videos). I've learned so much from your examples and explanations. I have now subscribed. Thank you for sharing your talent for teaching with all of us.

I am BLOWN AWAY by your teaching. I’ve been drawing for a couple of years- watched every proportion video on YT. My drawing only slightly look like the person I’m drawing and I can’t figure out why I can’t get it exact. I learned so much here- and it’s not so complicated that I feel like I’m in an anatomy class. I’ve watched the first 3 portrait lessons a number of times and I’m wondering if there is a way to download the vids to my ipad so I have them for reference. Anyway, thank SO very much.

Legit was struggling to find any video that talked in depth the proportions of the head in profile view, this is the only video I've ever found that does it justice.

Very educating and entertaining video! I like when you combine drawing and anatomy, so that you can learn while you draw.

I am still practicing and I have gotten so much better since using your method. :) I think you have a "lifer" viewer" lol. I am leaving your links from all your tutorials in a drawing group I have with over 4,000 individuals. I know this will help them as well. Thank you so much !
