Well....making this video took longer than expected 😎. The Carpenter's Star is a classic and I am so happy to have one in my Stashbuster series. And I already have a special someone that has claimed this one. Be sure to check out the new colouring pages where you can play with the colours over and over again. Enjoy.

The jig method you showed in this video is genius!! but, I really appreciate that you show us how to lay out the fabric and cut it and how to choose the fabrics to use. I'm from North Wales, and have just finished this quilt for my friend in Toronto, its going in the post today, so I guess its coming home😂. I absolutely loved every minute of it, it was fast and easy to put together ( your hack of the diagonal tape to square up the HST was amazing!), and the finished quilt was just gorgeous, I am actually quite sad to part with it - but she is a very special friend, so I'm glad to send it to her - thank you Karen ❤

To make a small mat turn easier, put down a piece of fleece¹ trimed to the mat's size under the mat². It should spin MUCH easier. Do be careful with your cuts though: press *firmly* so your mat won't slip & slide.³ ¹ Quality doesn't matter, so Walmart's cheaper fleece is fine. ² No hemming is required with fleece, so there is barely any "bump" on the mat if you go over the fabric's edge. ³ If you have a small mat dedicated to being your "spinner", you need only hot glue 1-2" fleece strips around the edges so the mat under the rotary cutter 'catches' your table & is less likely to slide. (A great use for scraps!)

Love this. I spent a day making it using smaller 4.5 inch finished blocks and it turned out really nice. Your tips with the tape on the ruler, how to press the seams, how to cut, the tape on the sewing machine to get accurate 1/4 seams, ironing tips, using crumbs were all new to me, and really made my tasks easier and more accurate. I haven't sewn anything in years, but I knocked this out in one day! Thanks Karen!

That gig, using the 6 layers of masking tape to make an edge, is a wonderful idea. I have wished that someone would print coloring books of quilt pattern designs for coloring. I have been drawing my own (on to grid paper) to color when I am looking for hidden designs. It also helps me to deside to use sashing or not; because, some patterns look much better with sashing. Thank you for this video.

There are two best parts on this video for me: the tape hack and how to add the top and bottom borders to make it longer. The borders make the quilt much more usuable, in my opinion. Why bury your stitches in a leader? Why not reverse and then go forward in the block piece itself?
@arieldeshotel20162 жыл бұрын
Nevermind - just saw in your "How to sew straight" video that if the thread isn't under tension, the first bit can make unsightly loops or shenanigans. So, burying your lead means having that first thread tension loop thing not on your pretty quilt block.
