And, you can get addicted to standing still when it works, to the point it can be considered camping. Don't be afraid to sit still and observe the everything unfold either though, and get used to ignore people misunderstanding your intentions, especially if you're mic-less.

Tips for new players : want to learn how to use the Commander class? Play Observer first and observe what the the Commander is doing. Also, remember none of you can do your job if you don't stick together so stay close to the Commander. If you pick Commander, please remember that there are other things than just smoke artillery so make use of all your options. When you call in support, remember that timing is important, don't call in artillery on a position if your team will be moving there soon. If you call in potentially dangerous support for your team, make sure to announce it to your team so they can move accordingly. If you want to play Coop, smoke is useless 99% of the time since it hinders your vision and the AI can sometime see through it. It impair your team's ability to pick targets at range. In the 1% of time when it's useful, there are usually more effective alternatives like using cover effectively or calling fire support. Besides, you're better off spending supplies on frags or incendiaries to help you assaulting or defending objectives.

Gas mask, besides not coughing in smoke, is also helpful to just generally muffle your voice so enemies can't hear you as easily. They can hear you if you use the radial menu or the voice chat (team & proximity). Also if you want to check if there's an enemy at a specific location but you can't see the spot or you're not in a good angle, you can shoot a couple rounds near the spot to listen to any reaction. The characters will say things like "shit, shit, oh fuck" when bullets are suddenly cracking next to them.

You can shoot the Crews out of the Helicopter supports, “Assassin/Cleric” -For Cleric, the Blackhawk it’s self explanatory, aim for the cockpits and to knock out the gunners, aim for the gunner slots/windows, always utilize weapons with HIGH VELOCITY so you don’t have to lead so hard to shoot them. (Cleric has voice lines for when his gunner(s) get knocked out/killed.) -For Assassin, the Apache Gunship, the Pilot is located in the far back seat beneath the Propellers, while the gunner is located in the front seat. High velocity weapons as well. +And for both choppers, there is two absolutely opportune times you can hit them with RPG’s with a high chance of taking them down, and that’s when they are FIRST arriving, since they are at full speed and can’t drop their speed they won’t be able to turn away to dodge the rocket. Though, note, Assassin will be tricky and hazardous because she fires her rockets first. ++And when they are directly above you, or above to fly over you and their cockpits dont have eyes on you, they won’t be able to react to the RPG that you’ll fire so you can knock them out. And make sure you lead a little bit with the rockets, always put a little lead even if they’re right above you. -- But be aware, if they see you shoot at them with anything, they will prioritze you over others. You can also throw back enemy grenades if you’re quick enough, or if you’re not quick enough, you can lay on the grenade and save your friends. Both of which I’ve tried and done. The A-10 will always go Parallel to whatever direction you are facing AT THE TIME OF CONFIRMATION. Not when you first call it in. So if you want it to strafe from your 6 to your 12, (Front and back) Call Warlock in, then turn to your right and he’ll come in parallel when it is confirmed. For the Apache/Gunship support “Assassin”, she will ALWAYS come in from behind you at the time of confirmation. Which means her rockets will be coming over your Right shoulder at whatever point you marked.

I just purchased Insurgency: Sandstorm yesterday 10-10-21. What amazes me is how much it is like Battlefield. The mechanics, the weapons, etc. are exactly like BF. Anyone who has played BF should ease into Insurgency with very little difficulty.

You can try Coop to get a better knowledge of maps, movement, weapons and all of that. It can also help you getting more familiar with the Commander and Observer classes.

(450h in this game since pre-alpha → |TAOk| Eike Mentira) Recoil grip is a 3 points attachment and doesn't give much recoil control (usually 4~6 points, not noticeable), it's much better to have more grenades (frag/incendiary are 2 points, smoke/flash are 1). I recommend using loading grip if you use high rate of fire weapons like famas/vhs so you reload quicker, quick draw grip for everyone (throw grenades faster, grab them faster, go back to your weapon faster) and specially if you're playing Push on attack side USE SMOKE LAUNCHER ATTACHMENT, only 1 point and scales with your carrier (no carrier → 1 smoke, light → 2, heavy → 3 smokes).

Pro tip - if you want to move quietly you can crouch and ADS and keep moving like that - you will be quiet without pressing alt.

Usually the people complaining about "camping" are the ones frantically wall-running off a cliff 35 times trying to get that 360 no-scope, or angry that their "mlg-pro-strat" of sprinting into the enemy spawn at top speed with akimbo machine pistols isn't getting them all the kills in the world. For me, a big part of “getting good” was listening. If you run around and can’t hear footsteps, you’re just dead lol. Sneaking around and planning based on audio cues is the way to go 👍

(450h in this game since pre-alpha → |TAOk| Eike Mentira) Marksman class tips: The sniper rifles depends on which map do you play, but usually follow the rule: -If you kill without making noise, people won't come to kill you and it's harder to find where you are. - .50 caliber sniper rifles are only effective against enemy vehicles and helicopters, 5 shots on the rotor and it's down for good, for sniping people aren't that great because of the sound, so the enemy won't go for open fields/areas. More noise → more enemies going to CQC areas → less effective you are. - Bolt Action rifles do less noise and one shot kill anyone, but SVD and MK (both 4 points) with silencer on a good spot kill more than bolt action rifles, so you help more your team. The question that every player (even experienced ones) have is: bolt action or semi auto? Well, it depends, maps where you can snipe people hard like hillside, bab and outskirts always stick with semi auto, when the enemy respawn the enemies get crowded quickly and you lose plenty opportunities to kill, but maps with difficult areas that you need to assure the kill the bolt action is a must. My preferences on bolt action: (3x~6x scope, 7x scope sometimes), bipod and silencer, i always stick with heavy armor (sometimes semi auto snipers won't kill you on 1 shot, so you can escape). Semi auto snipers (m110, garand and svd): same as bolt action, but sometimes I pick 4x~1x scope (4 points). God tier MK 14 EBR: this weapon was the best cqc weapon in the game before as val, but still a solid option to snipe people with 4x scope and CQC 1x scope with ext. mag. and silencer, you can be breacher and marksman at same time.

Maybe not as related to your question but remember you have an tactical map (I think it's N as default, I have it on mouse chroma) that you can access at any given time. Check it on defense to see of you still have allies on your area to cover your back and to see if any flank has fallen and you need to return to objective if you are on a sideline or to look in that direction if you are in the objective. In attack (thinking more on Push here) it's useful to see where your team has penetrated the defenses and where it's facing resistance, did you see a friendly going down after looking at a choke or crossing an opening? Get your smokes, nades ready or prepare to prefire

(450h in this game since pre-alpha → |TAOk| Eike Mentira) Demolitions class tips: The 4 points rocket launcher and the explosive launcher on your rifle scales with the carrier, so if you use heavy carrier (3 points) you get 2 rockets and 2 explosive launchers. Imagine having 4 explosives ready to blow any corner or difficult position while attacking? Having 2 shots to take it down enemy helis? Don't worry about having your gear only being a 2x scope, exp. launcher and 4 points RPG, you can get tons of kills and be a bulldozer, opening hard positions specially on push mode. It's a waste of resources if you only pick light carrier (only 1 40mm. exp.), at4 or panzerfaust (3 points, 1 shot only and have weird optics), ied/c4 (you're better with the rockets, breacher can have the c4 but no one can have the rocket launcher). Never try to balance demolitions, always stick with heavy carrier, 4 points rocket launcher and exp. launcher

Another tips 1.play the objective,its anoying when i see breacher class try to snipe people from a cross the map instead helping take/defend objective,if you wanna play sniper and people already take the class,ask to swap. 2.use utility,smoke and flashbang is very useful,many people not really realize this until they face againts a good sniper or worst,a well position gunner. 3.if you play as insurgent and hear a heli sound,hide indoors,unless you have an rpg stop acting like somali fighter. 4.you can skip vaulting animation for low obstacles/ low window by simply run and crouch jump. 5.you can throw back a granade thrown at you

13:40 I honestly find it astounding that there are people who complain about holding angles in Sandstorm. Honestly I get much more pissed off seeing a dude run around a room like a chicken with its head cut off, checking every doorway and window individually when they could just sit in a corner and lock down the whole room at once. If someone is holding an angle that isn't on the objective, doesn't have anything to do with the objective, and doesn't have much of any enemies coming through than sure, that isn't good. But still, this isn't cod, sprinting around vast areas of the map unnecessarily is more likely to just add you to the pool of dead people than actually help the team.

Just bought the game on console and I found the M4A1 with just a flash hider to be a little unruly. It's really expensive in points but I like running recoil grip+ compensator for the best control when a bunch of bots rush at me and I gotta spray. So far the biggest struggle is map/UI

@@MonitorZero I also have a Sound Blaster G6 and I saw a video and guy said the AE-5 and the G6 sound pretty similar. You should try the Schiit Hel man, it sounds really amazing and combine that with Atmos and you won't ever need anything else, using your headset wich is an amazing headset

Nice guide. The only thing that you should of included in this during the wallbang part of the video is that every weapon has a penetration value. Some weapons penetrate better then then others like 7.62x51 will penetrate a wall better than a 9mm smg. Otherwise nice guide.

No. Purchase is the full game. There is optional DLC that is cosmetic only if you want to support development. All modes, maps, and guns are included at no additional charge. The only grind is to level 25 to unlock all the classes but that can be done in one or two short play sessions.
