What I have trouble grokking is that you have two whole parts of the attack phase, attacker buff step and defender buff step, dedicated to only 4 cards in either players' deck, which are clash buffs? Am I missing something here?

Im not sure what you are asking.. in the attack phase.. the attacking player declares who they want to attack.. then the defending player can respond with either a trap, quick action card, or defend with one or multiple cards they have on the board.. after that the attacker then declares if they want to use a clash buff.. then the defending player declares if they want to use a clash buff.. the result is then calculated and the attack is resolved.

​​@@AlphaClashTCGback when I made this comment, I thought it was weird that there were entire steps dedicated to clash buffs alone, since there's only 4 allowed in deck and was asking if there's more to it than that. It doesn't seem like there is based off the rules. It just felt weird to me design wise, as every attack on every turn you'll be asking or staying "any buffs?" or "no buffs" to properly pass priority, when there's only 4 cards that use the timing. I'm learning more of the game and I see clearly that clash buffs are very strong so I get the restrictions. I'm hoping more cards use the attacker buff timing and defender buff timing. The step could also be utilized to bluff that you have one by pretending to look at one in your hand, which is super cool. I will dub that a "clash bluff." I come from DBS where nearly every card is a much weaker version of a "clash buff" called a combo, so it just felt weird it was only 4 cards for this step. I think I'll understand why this steps exist even better once my product comes in and I'm able to attend a demo for this game.

Very nice video. What would you recommend to buy in getting started in the game? Starting with set one or set two? Are the starters worth getting?

Well I guess that would depend on how much you want to spend. The draft box that just released is really good but if you don't want to spend that much then set two clash kit is great as well. I would do that then you can buy individual cards on www.tcgplayer.com/search/alpha-clash/product?productLineName=alpha-clash&page=1&view=grid or booster packs if you want variety.
