One thing I recommend when you go exploring, find a good radio station to have on while you're out there. Good music and radio hosts help break the monotony that can set in sometimes.

10:27 neutron stars yes are pretty safe, white dwarves however are evil. some white dwarves have jet cones that barely extend outside of the dwarf's exclusion zone and it's very easy to get tumbled past the exclusion zone and be forced out of super cruise, trying to escape a jet cone *and* the exclusion zone is pretty much a death sentence

I have only done neutron highway's, to colonia(3hrs) and centre(5hrs), coming back from centre, i took 1 hour to look around, i found 4 undiscovered blackholes. There were more but i couldn't bother. I don't find exploring that interesting.

Best tip as of now. Go to a human technology broker and get the 5A modified FSD that was released after the recent community goals. And don’t forget to add mass manager to it. No BS, it changed my exploration Phantom from 65ly to 71ly. And yes, I had the fully engineered level 5 with mass manager 5A fsd.

Even though I have Elite in Exploration, I envy the patience and skill that y'all professionals got. And it's not like I haven't tried it. I've been to Colonia and Sag A* twice. I can see how and why people in enjoy it, but it certainly is not for everyone.

Hhe.....Hhe........Hhe I’ve been mapping systems by flying away from the star and trying to eyeball from the light reflections on them as they move with the star...... about 10 min to an hour per system 50-100 systems since I recently started exploring.... who knew there was a scanner for that........

For those who want 3x payout for cartographic data - Limited time left, apparently until December 24th included. (Can anybody confirm the date?) I guess it'll work until the next 'tick' > Server reboot, which takes place every Thursday morning. The Community Goal in the Coalsack Nebula is the reason ; it is over, but you still can get 3x payout for your data if you bring it to Betancourt Station in the system 'Musca Dark Region PJ-P B6-1'. I did not take part in that CG, I made half a billion with my data there two days ago, as the triple payout is active for everybody in the game. I am in the region right now, will keep you posted here when I go back there with my data, to confirm if it still is a thing. O7. EDIT 24.12.: Still works.

Yoda was right about exploration: "Patience you must have, my young padawan." Exploration goes deeper than you think. You do not only explore the black, but also yourself. (Ah, and you get a lot of money, yay.)

I almost wish they removed either the mass or temp indicator from star names, so it was harder to find systems where black holes and the like were secondary objects. It really takes all the magic out when you explore and spend an hour FD'ing everything in the region, EXCEPT the black holes/neutrons that you just happened upon that JUST got your heart racing. It really kills the buzz when you open up the map and see CMDR NOFACE or w/e has hit this one too, just like the last 8 BH's you've found, but their name isn't on a single other planet because they are just using tools to query all the BH's from star names. You can't even say "Just do it too" to anyone now either, because it's already been done, and the only places left with ANY efficiency is the core dome layer, or the northern arm bands, and if it can take a while to find previously untargeted quadrants. When you do though it's amazing, but it can at times take literal days if you're unlucky.

Stay away from direct routes between major points like center of galexy and Bengals point....and you need to go about 500ly away from the bubble. I have discovered over a dozen systems and planets...that now have my mark of discovery...mapping..and first footfall...CMDR Cognutz

Yes, you can, but it's better to use an external tool for route plotting. Try the moneymaker's favorite (Road to riches) or a REAL and non-money oriented tool like EDSM, right now I mostly use EDDiscovery. You can link other accounts with it (EDSM, Inara, etc.) and keep track of all your routes, scans, commander stuff, cargo etc. I use EDD for exploration and to check the value of planets, to combine planning and making some credits on the way. I'd never play without EDD again, great tool. Never forget to donate to those talented players who created those tools, they make this complex game playable, as long as FDev won't implement some into ED. O7

Yes, it's the fabled Black with White Fangs (Dead??) Horse - there's always one in a Yamiks video - this one was BEEPING hard to pause and see even at 0.25x playback speed. Wait until just after 1m 11s and start quickly play and pausing - eventually you will get a still of it.♠️🐎 . Oh, it is actually a unicorn - the black horn is less visible.

Dang I was king of disappointed that your bobble heads were working like normal. They missed a trick there. It would be cool if your bobble heads suddenly all get pulled forward decisively and fail to bobble. They’d be pointing out gravity wells at that point

Guardian stuff in beginner exploration, calling POI's pointless... All these things as a beginner are interesting. This is not a beginners guide to exploration as I watched this video and still don't know what star types might have what planets, what planets are good for scanning, what planets have different biological or geological POI's. Talking about the clouds and those metal crystals are NOT beginner stuff. Traveling to Sag A is NOT beginner stuff, wtf? This video is better off named "Video about exploration" rather than a guide. It doesn't explain anything about HOW to explore or HOW to use probes.

This is not a beginner's guide, it's a rant. As a "beginner" with 30hrs in game, I barely understood any of this. I know enough this game to have an appreciation for his frustration, but for someone wanting to move from Bounty Hunting and Cargo missions into exploration, this taught me nothing. If you're a true beginner at exploring, keep looking - this video won't help you.
