I love Malta, it's so great especially with the fire technology. I am absolutely ok with a defensive playstyle. Italy on the other hand is just not my cup of tea. I quite dislike that you have to do so much at the same time in the very early stage of the game like using the architect properly and getting early research done while the other tasks like herding and exploring treasures don't disappear.

Italy feels like you need to do a lot of micro. I’ve tried them a few times it really feels like you need to do a lot in order to keep the eco flowing, especially with the lombards.

@@dimasbdhs6556 Hey i have been playing only Italy since i returned to this game from a 2 years break (only because the DLC dropped [i love both malta and italy]) and i was never good at microing to begin with but i was able to win both multiplayer games i played (i previously had been on some skirmishes against IA to get comfortable)

It's kind of wild that a meta had already developed a day before official release. Great content, keep up the good work! I feel the civ balancing this civ is going to be really tricky because it already has so many unique gimmicks that can throw traditional balancing moves all out of whack.

They look like they are pretty good. I went against a hard Malta AI yesterday. I was playing Portuguese and revolted to Brazil. The AI lasted almost 15 minutes before my Volunteer de patria and minutemen swarms over ran them. Most civs only last 7 to 8 minutes against those numbers. It took a 400 pop Minuteman burst to break Malta's back.

You don't have to play the Maltese all that defensive. There's some nice map control gameplay on Age of Streaming by Aizamk. But then again... HE can do it...

Malta is so good. I hold myself against 2 civ with turtled choke. Sentinels with rocket is good

It's always nice to have new content but Malta feels very recycled if you look at the units and compare it to already known units in the game and especially the classical campaign. But hey, what counts longterm are the unique mechanics anyway.

I'm not sure what to think about all the order unit cards. They're definitely interesting and it's nice to have options but I don't feel like they're any better than Malta's regular units and still subject to population where it was just confusing me.

You probably cannot. That commandery goes up at 5:30. And the second one goes up shortly. You won't have enough units out by then to destroy his buildings. You can definitely destroy a Malta player who is slow in getting his defenses up.
