Beginner's Guide to set up a Smart Home

Sharing with you guys all our research on how to set up a smart home using Tuya (Smart Life app) and Google Home with hauls from Shopee, Lazada and Taobao.

I have several devices and the smart life app on both IPad and Android. I have purchased many of my devices from AliExpress. One of the devices Imlove is the WIFI Tuya Timer Socket Thermostat Digital Temperature Controller Socket Outlet With Timer Switch Sensor Probe Heating Cooling using for my dormant Venus FlyTraps. The IFTTT app is useful for controlling various devices that don’t all connect with tuya/smart life. 1. Thanks for the remote info. I have been wondering about that. 2. I am wondering if you have noticed a difference in the ipad vs the android smart life apps. I have a heap zigbee motion sensor. When I attempt to adjust the sensitivity it works on Android, but not on my ipad. (reported to support)

Yup, other IFTTT app like Google Home is able to control the non-smartlife products too. Thanks for letting me know that there is a difference in IOS and andriod SmartLife app. For me, I only use my iPhone to control the app.

@@leiyuen95may I asked does your ceiling fan with light connect to your smart switch? If yes, does it need neutral wire and what switch you are using?

Useful in helping me to understand more about smart home. Would you recommend buying smart switch with neutral wiring?

Thanks for watching! I don’t think it is necessary to pull the neutral wiring to your switches. For my case, it can still work without neutral wiring.

Hi can I check if bulbs you’re using are normal dumb bulbs? Do you use any tricolored lights and do they work with your smart switch (on off to change color)?

Hi, mine are all normal dumb bulbs with default 1 colour. The only tricoloured is my ceiling fan. Google home will switch on the switch. But for the bulb to change colour, I guess you have to set a routine in Smart Home app: "Hey google, switch on the master bedroom fan to yellow". The routine will be: 'On smart switch' > delay 1s > 'Change smart light bulb to yellow'.

For the door and toilet sensor, can the scene/routine only be activated between say between 9pm to 6am?

Yup, you can set it in the smart life app to decide when you would like your routine be activated.

Thanks. For the IR DH, do I need to place it in the line of sight to the TV, aircon etc.?

If I have curtains in both my living and room do I need more than 1 UR controller?

Hi! I assume the UR controller you are referring to is the radio frequency cum infrared device. Most likely you will need 2 because the wall will block the wave from transmitting between 2 rooms.

Do you need to take note of the region of your tuya devices / smart life app in order to link to google home?

Hi! It is generally not necessary to take note of the region of the Tuya device, as the device should be automatically detected and linked to your Smart Life App.
