That was a great solve. I’ve found the Telegraph “Toughie” a little too tough for me but I look forward to seeing Toughies tackled. This channel is becoming unmissable for cryptic crossword fans.

I got very stuck in the top left corner but once you solved TOFFEE I figured out most of what had stumped me. Hattie Jacques was in a lot of the Carry On films, oooh matron and all that 😂

😂 Yes - that's her. Eric Sykes was the name of the actor I was trying to remember. I've just read that she used to be married to John Le Mesurier (Sgt Wilson from Dads Army)

Tight is a synonym for drunk so would work as an anagram indicator.

Why is soccer kit = strip?

Strip is just another word for a football kit. Not sure of the etymology but it's a commonly used in the UK

13 Across (the shearer clue), why does keeping quiet mean keeping “p”? Great video :)
@The_Cryptic_Mystic

Thank you! Quiet can mean P as Piano is used in musical notation to mean quiet (Piano is Italian for quiet/soft). On a musical score it's written as 'p'. Likewise loud can be code as F.. which is an abbreviation of Forte (in music meaning loud/strong)
