I find youtube videos have helped me so much to improve and and new techniques to my climbs to speed up my work. Its nice to see some UK tree work as i feel there isnt loads of people on youtube showing our work. I feel your video will definitely help someone looking to become a climber or just starting out. I have watched all your videos and think this best And most practical from an Irish perspective. These kind of trees are our bread and butter so very applicable! Great advice on leaving the pegs to help you climb on 👌 Also - I know your joking/taking the piss and all that but pls stop calling yourself fat. Great video! Some very good advices for the new ones. Reg Coates is legendary (whether he wants it or not, haha) and most climbers, beginners or experts, can still learn something from him. I would, also, highly reccomend Dan's channel ''Climbing Arborist''. They have some of the most valuable teaching videos out there (at least for me). Have a nice sunday and take care

Good work I’m not a beginner going on 6-7 years now. But I do teach tree climbing as part of my full time job as a teacher at a vocational school. I teach them a lot of the same things you talk about in this video. Only thing I would say is instead of leaving branches sticking out for positioning purposes try spar device (I personally use a buckingham tree squeeze.) I tell, beginner climbers not to leave anything that could impale you if you were to slip.
@sawbandits2 жыл бұрын
Hay Stobie thanks for stoping by im not sure ive herd of a tree squeeze could you tell me some more about it please and thank you
@StobieOutdoorServices2 жыл бұрын
@@sawbandits Sure thing it works as a choking lanyard. The main part goes around the trunk or spar of the tree you’re working on, but it can also be used as a fraction saver. I tend to mostly use it doing spire work and chunking down the trunk of a tree once around the trunk of the tree, you simply feed your end of your DRT climbing system through the small ring and through the Big ring attach it back to you. Then adjust the ring that has the prusik till it’s at the tree. It’s tuff to see it and the video is unedited but I use it in my Father’s Day eve video to chunk down a spar of a red pine.

How many ground guys would you say you need for an efficient & speedy clean up? Really enjoyed this video btw 👍🏻
@sawbandits6 ай бұрын
Hi Tommy apologies for the late reply. That’s a good question but a hard one to answer because every job is different and needs a different approach but it is very important to have groundsman that have good experience on the ground and willing to put a good shift in if you take on a young lad or a newbie having also having an experienced groundsman will help him learn and leave the harder or more technical jobs to the experienced guy giving the climber and the new guy time to concentrate on their tasks. In a nutshell a good groundsman is worth his weight in gold.

How long and how much did it cost please?
@sawbandits6 ай бұрын
Hi Maisy it all depends on what route you take. For example if you start off as a ground worker with no training it cans take years to get fully qualified but the company you work for will probably pay for your courses if you just want to pay for them yourself you could do it in a year but you would lack the on site experience. You would be looking at the guts of €10000 that would include chipper ticket Polesaw , groundsaw , and climbing and probably rigging in tree too I hope that helps
