We rented my newbie brother a super nice $6,500 bike that actually fits him with big suspension, wireless shifting, a dropper.... basically everything you can ever wish for in a bike. Next stop, Kanuga bike park. Now let's just hope he doesn't crash it!

That was some solid advice you gave in the video: babysteps -> an injury would cost you so much time to recover you're missing out on a lot of possible progress there.

Have been off the bike now for six months due to a prolonged flare of an autoimmune disease - I am soooo much looking forward to my first time back on the bike - it might still take weeks or even months for it to come, it may be deepest winter then, but it will be exhilerating beyond imagination! 😉😃

The advice about improvement vs injury was golden and so many people need to hear it. Also good job on all the braking advice, a new rider and super powerful brakes can actually be a bad combo and you did a great job breaking it down on the fly. We need more Mac on the channel

Go to a bike park and rent an instructor, sign up for a local class like ninja mountain bike classes, etc. You won’t regret it. There is so much technique in mountain biking, it’s good to start out with and build on good fundamentals (body position, braking, cornering, drops, jumps).

Alex, this was a great video. Nice to see you out riding again. I loved your non instructional instructional video. I think you should do more like this. I learned a lot from this as you explained things to your brother. This was much more interesting to watch than a true instructional video. Your brother is great and listened to what you had to say. Rode a section and then understood why you gave him the advice you gave. This was a great format. Thanks

i work in a bike rental shop and all we have is super nice $5000+ mtbs to rent. our primary demographic is people renting low end path bikes, when we rarely rent a mountain bike it's usually to a first timer, explaining how the controls work and why there isnt a front deraileur and how a dropper post works is probably the most enjoyable part of working at the shop. we fr are the gateway to extensive amounts of debt and injuries but my god we sure love to see people get stoked!!
