Traxxas Slash 4x4 Complete Slipper Clutch Assembly TRA6878 installation video for beginners. This process is the same for other Traxxas cars and trucks such as the Slash 4x4 Brushed Titan and Brushless VXL (LCG and standard chassis), Rally 4x4, VR46 Ford Fiesta, Rustler 4x4 and Stampede 4x4.
Even after setting the mesh properly in this truck, spur gears were still getting stripped irregularly. Typically, in that case, one of the most common issues is a bad bearing.

So helpful. I'm a noob and I bought a used Slash 4x4. I tried to drive it and it moved but felt like the clutch was slipping as it was slow to accelerate. So this was helpful trying to figure out the different pieces and how to maintain them.

Nice video. My Slash 4x4 LCG has been on the shelf for ages, coz of the slipper clutch. I think using the low rider Bandito 2.2 tyres kept messing it up. Got two stripped out screws at the bottom which made me fail to fix it, but thankfully, a friend drilled them out yesterday. Tomorrow I'll take a look at the slipper clutch.

Tanks for the viedo. I’m new to the hobby and I love but I just bought mine this past Saturday and Iv already changed three gears. I’m not hitting hard, everything aligns fine but it keep eating up the gears. Any suggestions??

from what I know, you should loosen the slipper. u wont wheelie at all and full power is delayed but at least itll do less stress to the drivetrain

also i would check ur bearings (motor, slipper, etc) and check for rocks in between teeth

Good video I wish the slash would give you warning when it is happening instead of just having a great day taking it out on the second day having it stop moving 100 feet later with a grinding sound, I hope with the new parts it last longer.

I had personally given up on Traxxas Slash cars coz of this problem. Bought Diff after diff yet issue was clutch. I'll fix mine tomorrow, but I'm still not too much of a fan.

It will start to sound off when hitting the throttle. Also, if it's stripped badly enough, the car will not move.

@@GradyEvans If you're curious that aluminum adapter is MODEL# 6893X. If you're looking for a beefier setup I got the Robinson Racing Products 7854. The Robinson Racing setup includes a hardened steel spur gear too.

@@Blakrex hey if I get rock between the spur gear and the upgraded steel one from that if I get it would it bend the motor it’s ok if you don’t know

@@ceementality Not likely. The size of rock that would get past the plastic guard shouldn't be large enough to damage the motor shaft. Any small ones that may squeeze might make small chips, but I haven't experienced any failures in the year that I've ran it. And it's been ran pretty hard.
