These videos bring enhanced appreciation for Mainships!

Our Mainship 390 Adagio has been great as a single engine with bow and stern thrusters. I even added a wireless remote so can operate thrusters from anywhere on the boat....really helps with line handling.

Nice content. Good to know that big and tall people would choose a different craft. Do you have a suggestion for average size Texans? I’m 6’5 and the shortest of my group.

Nice tour. I was just thinking it be nice if you did more boat tours showing the advantages and disadvantages of each boat.

Main ship is nice but the most popular boat on the loop is a carver..it has completed more loops than any other manufacturer
@NoRegretsLifestyle4 ай бұрын
Not sure that’s true but it would be way up there for sure

I guess it depends on what year. Based on recent data from the Great Loop Cruisers Association, the most popular boats on the Great Loop are: Mainship (20 boats completed the Loop in 2022) Sea Ray (15 boats) Ranger Tug (13 boats) Grand Banks (11 boats) Carver (10 boats) Kadey-Krogen (9 boats) DeFever (7 boats)

Nice looking boat and really very functional for loop. I’m a full time liveaboard and I just don’t think i want a Vberth. Currently the wife and I are in a Vberth and boy we miss out Aft cabin

I am planing to do the loop single handed in the next year or so. What other boats/models would you recommend? I’m not afraid of a bigger boat if it can be single handed. Thanks

I envy the fly bridge stairs for our great dane but 34 mkIII fits our budget 🤣 The hidden washing machine would be life changing for my partner. Great video big ups

Side doors are good but at least you need a sliding window so you can communicate with the foredeck while anchoring and tying up.

Searching high and low for a Mainship. No luck yet at these prices but it’s getting better. The 430 is actually my first choice but I would definitely sport a 400, - love them! I must have twins though, just a thing for me… the bigger 6 cylinder Yenmar is again my preference. This is a beautiful boat! As soon as I find a good example with twins being sold by a guy willing to sell it for the same price he paid, plus upgrades, I’m all over it!

Why do some have a single and some have twins?
@pduderocker6 ай бұрын
@@ballsandstrikesonthei.c.w.7959 single engine models are less expensive to purchase, operate and maintain. So if you’re okay with having just one and it has thrusters you can theoretically have just as much fun for less money. The downside is that you have to work that single engine harder and you have no spare. Twins make it easier to maneuver and create a little peace of mind. And, if you just like boats and power plants having two is twice the fun.
@jerrybartow86936 ай бұрын
A single is better than. # 1 Easier to work on engine !! Especially if you are doing it yourself. And if you are hiring it done you will pay less labor because of the ease of access. The twin engine version models are a nightmare to do any work on them.
@pduderocker6 ай бұрын
@@jerrybartow8693 absolutely! As long as you’re okay with having a single power source. Twins are just so much cooler, if it’s all about money though and you have to live on your boat - a single engine is sure going to save you some bucks. Plus, it only really matters if you’re underway. At anchor or tied up, a second engine is just twice the weight. :)

I am skeptical of the claim a boat retains its value. I been around water sports since a teen and direct drive and v-drive boats. I have rescued and revived a few. I have never seen a boat keep its value. They may level out as they age but that initial depreciation is substantial. I made the mistake of buying a new boat once. The ongoing maintenance and upkeep costs do not decrease with age. RV and boats are similar and the inflated pandemic prices are evaporating.
@MannyB-b7l14 күн бұрын
New boats don't retain their value, I have never heard anyone say that. But older boats do, once they get to about 15 years or so. That's assuming they are well maintained. Like cars and RVs, the owner pays a huge premium to get something brand new. I haven't bought a new car or boat in the last 25 years.
@dewholdingsllc105014 күн бұрын
@@MannyB-b7l So we agree, we are saying exact same thing. I am not sure who you are replying to my comment, or "Capin Paul's" post about boat value retention. You just heard Capin Paul say in this post that these boats retain value in this post. I think certain boat brands and certain models do well opposed to unknown brands or models. I am always looking for the hidden gems rather that following the herd. i think that is Paul's general opinion here about Mainship brand being popular and keeping values high. He pointed out ceiling height is low in them. Important safety tip for a tall people like me. What I said I was skeptical based on my own experience as a long time boat owner and multi vehicle/boat rescuer/restorer owner. Most content posts I am seeing in 2024 are the big boat (and housing and RV) markets are trending down from the peak in 2021, 2022. I am following folks in the industry so for the educational content and they are often a great source for great deals. My 2 cents.

I knew a shrimp boat captain who chewed my arse. You never "drive" a boat. You pilot it just like you pilot a plane. River pilots guide ships. They aren't river drivers. Pilot, not drive.
