There is a comoany that makes bolts, which shear off at specific torque. It's for semi trucks, to prevent twisting a drive shaft. They would certainly work for boats too. Just reatrach the shaft. Put the new bolts in, and get underway, after you've cleared the prop.

Welcome to waterway rush hour. Still much easier to navigate than an interstate.

What does that shaft saver do? Does it flex to allow for engine/shaft misalignment? It doesnt look like a dampener.

You know they sell new ones with rubber busshings for no vibration and alignment doesn't need to be precision, they make them in Florida, i was thinking of replacing mine with the rubber grommets,

I'd be doing the same. Get 2 when you do and add an extra to the engine room extra parts. Did the prop take a bad hit

I live full time 6 months of the year on my Nordhavn 40 trawler and the other 6 months in my Mercedes Sprinter Van traveling Canada and USA. I Love both lifestyles, but if I would have to choose between the two - it would be a close call, but I would probably pick the Van life as it is easier in many aspects and living expenses are much cheaper and it gives you more freedom, flexibility and independence. When traveling on land I almost never use RV parks but with the boat staying at an expensive marina is sometimes inevitable and you depend on boatyards for maintenance haul-outs. My offshore insurance for my boat is the biggest expense followed by costs for maintenance, parts and upkeep. With both, I try to do/fix as much as I can by myself to cut down costs but for certain jobs I do need specialists.

Why don’t you use aqua map for doing the loop? It has a great feature available in the waterways of the USA known as the army corps of engineers water survey that aqua map shows on its routes.
