Regarding investment platforms, if they are covered by the FCA and the money is protected by the government…is it only up to £85,000 like banks are here in the uk? Still a good time to invest in the market being that we are entering a recession…ie to quarters of downward turns?

@@Gump1Gump2 Personally for long term investors into index funds the price does not concern me, nor does the threat of a recession, we have to take this as a benefit to build long term wealth. But It's easier said than done! On the second point, your cash is protected £85k yes, per provider. Once you own individual securities you own those regardless of whether the broker goes out of business though.

why did you say make sure you use an index fund but then @11:30 show the VWRL ETF? an index fund allows you to make fractional purchases where an ETF is whole units only.

Hey, the VWRL ETF is an index fund in it's own right and many platforms offer fractional buying of ETF, Trading 212, Invest Engine included. Yes the downside of ETFs is that they often have to be purchased in whole numbers. But mutual funds so have more fees and charges, ETFs are also available on many more platforms making them more inclusive which is why I often spend time on them. Trading 212 could be a good option, its where I hold my stocks. Then Invest Engine is where I hold just ETFs. See links in my videos for free shares if you sign up :) Use a stocks and shares ISA if you can, remember that this makes your gains tax free.

Hey mate, ones an ETF and ones a mutual fund - but the big difference is FTSE Global all cap has smaller companies whereas VWRL has large and mid cap - really its up to you. But understand the pros and cons of the ETF/ Mutual fund structure as it may change how you want to invest :)
