This is my year to grow as a worship musician and I’ve had all this equipment but am just learning its potential. One being my MX 88. I literally was searching pads and here is my man Aaron who I love (saw some other videos with you) and here he is going through layering/pads using the MX88 only God! Thank you both for following the leading of the Holy Spirit so people like me can grow their gift. You are a blessing.

Awesome video, and well explained! I have the MX61. One cool trick I've leaned on is to layer the "Trance" pad underneath the piano--but then take that pad and set it to -12 (minus 1 octave). Keep the piano at 0. What this does is give the overall combo a deep rich sound; and when you play the piano notes up high, that pad will be an octave lower, and continue filling in the musical space more than if it were completely matching the high notes of the piano. Just a quick tip! #Blessings! 🎹🎶

You didn't talk about it but I like velocity cross fade on string pads. What that means is that on the attack you hear mostly or entirely the piano sound, and then the as the piano fades you get more strings. But also the harder you hit the keys, the more piano you get and the less strings, but the softer you play, the more strings you get. You have to have a synth or keyboard that was good sweet strings. Many like the cheap Casios have very buzzy sounding strings that aren't pleasant at all. This keyboard was good, You could get a rich dreamy sounding pad.

For example, the song is in key of D. I'd like to sustain that chord D with a string which is a monotone all throughout the song.

@Silverado19955 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you want to go for or what the music calls for
@lightbring97015 жыл бұрын
It depends. Layering is used a lot because it's combines multiple sounds to create a unique sound or feeling. Split is used when you want different zones of the keyboard to have a different sounds. People often use split as a way to play bass in there left hand while accompanying their selves with some sort of piano in the right.

Pads are type of synthesized sound that sustains for a long period of time. It's similar to strings, but isn't as obtrusive. Layering is just combining multiple sounds or patches together.

@lightbring97015 жыл бұрын
Haha. Sure lol. I wouldn't say I'm necessarily controlling anyone, but music is definitely used universally as a way to influence the way ppl experience the world. If you watch a scary movie...you put scary music behind it so your eyes match your ears and give you a more complete experience. Same thing in church. If the pastor is trying to make a point that is poignant, it's my job to frame his words and the service in a way that will allow the people to hear him the way he wants to present it. So yes, I am controlling the room. And imo it's ok. but lmk what you think.
