Summ: #1 Have an emergency fund -Min Three times of monthly income #2 Investments should have a Min 8% return after taxes-Bcos PPF gives 8% approx #3 Keep aside 10% of monthly income - for ur future self -Long term investments like Equity, ETF, PPF #4 Credit limit (Credit utilization Ratio) -Max 30% of monthly income -eg. 1Lac salary -Credit card limit be 30k max --Else will be trapped by debt #5 20% EMI rule - All EMIs put together be less than 20% of monthly cash income -Zero EMI would be great---SIP>>EMI--What if you loose ur job during EMI tenor??! #6 Buying properties -Go for it only if you can afford 30% of the cost from own money -Banks give only 80% loan--Balance 20% +10% expense overrun (like furnishing etc.) -You should be able to bear it. #7 Any property owned must yield atleast 3% of its cost --Eg house costing Rs.50L--Must give a min of Rs.1.5L rental income per annum #8 Rule for sole bread winners (Having ppl dependant on you) -- Have a life cover of atleast 20x your current annual income #9 50-30-20 Rule --50% of money can go into fixed expenses like rent, Electricity etc (Needs), 30% can go into your wants (dinners, parties…) & balance 20% into savings (Min 10% savings mandatory --refer point 3)

I am in my 17, currently in 12th STD. And I found this video so much useful 👌, yea There were little things were I couldn't get it, obviously because I don't have very much knowledge about it. But this is a great help to manage person finance.

@shashank Another important point which you missed out about the emergency fund is that it should be highly liquid.. Which means with in a day you should be able to withdraw this money.. If this money gets into ETF, or mutual funds, share market etc. we get into the T+2 days crap. Which will kill the intention of "Emergency". I know you hate FD's but this is one use case where FD can be used as it is highly liquid and gives a 5-6% percent return. But the goal of this Emergency fund is not to "gain returns". With 5-6% interest the FD can take care of the inflation erosion and give us a highly liquid instrument which is ready to use in very short period of time (medical emergency). I know we have insurance that kind of fill that gap but I would be extra cautious after all cash is still the king in India.

Hi Shashank, can you please include self employed people in it too... For example, I'm a Physiotherapist & I am paid per consultation... The problem here is, when the money keeps flowing in its very easy to spend it out too.. unlike salaried people who can segregate their funds every month... I'm not sure how you could include this.. but the number or self employed people are expected to only rise in the future...

I like watching your videos which are in the simplest ways but I question. See, I can save only 5000 Rupees a month and I have some knowledge about mutual funds. So, here I need you to tell me, what should I do. Is buying insurance policy which gives me around 6 to 7 % interest or should I invest in mutual funds in the form of SIP which can give me more after 25 to 30 years ?

Hi Shashank, Great video; thanks for explaining all the details to T. Could you also make a detailed video on the "50-30-20 Rule" with respect to how the savings must be divided into various investment instrument totalling up to 20%. Since most of us out here are having only one source of income -- this 20% will also be a part of the "8% returns rule" as well as "Pay yourself 10% rule". It will be great if you could make a video or a response with details would also help. Thanks once again for all the awareness :) have been following your insta handle for almost a year or so.. wish I found your channel and all your content a few years back itself :)
