Man I am so looking forward to your future MD-82 guides. We now have startup and FMC . Please do more. After take off and cruise. VOR/RNAV/ILS/DME or NDB, those that no other channel mentions

I'll do a full flight later today - from cold and dark, through the flight, and navigate using the FMC. It's still all very new to me too - so mistakes will be made, but I'll work through them along the way.

The FMC in the MD-82 is very, very similar to the Boeing 73 series of aircraft - and I spent a LOT of time messing around with the Zibo 737-800x in X-Plane a few years ago :)

Question- To summarize what programming the FMC does- If set on autopilot, it can basically fly entire route with following the magenta line along planned route & control altitude restrictions and speeds automatically? Wonder what the main differences between a FMC and say the latest Garmin or Avadyne GPS units out today?

It depends on the aircraft type, and it's installed systems. Broadly speaking, yes - the FMC *can* follow both the lateral and vertical flight plans, and the throttle requirements en-route (or at least the Airbus can). I haven't delved far enough into the MD-82 yet to understand exactly what it can do. In the real-world it's not as straightforward as you might think - because although filed on a plan, ATC could re-direct you, or re-sequence you in terms of speed during a flight - almost certainly on approach (putting you into a hold, etc). I'll look at holds and changing the route mid-flight in a later video :)

Something like a G1000 (or at least with all the modules connected, I think in real life there are several pieces as "addon modules" or so) is basically, at least in MSFS, all in one: FMC (flight management computer), HSI, artificial horizon, navigation display, autopilot, nav and com radio. In airliners these are more separate. Take a look at the A320 for example: You have your com radio panel, the autopilot, a nav display etc and all these are actually their own system, meaning if you literally pull the plug only that one fails. And the FMC is one of those parts: The one where you enter your route details and performance data. All the other instruments (flight directors, autopilot nad nav display for the flight plan, speed bugs for V speeds etc) take their data from there and use it for their functionality.

I just programmed the amount of fuel that was already in the plane. When you load an aircraft into Flight Simulator it has an amount of fuel "as standard" - which you *should* change - I knew from past experience it would have more than enough for a short flight.

Today I can’t use my vnav, flew this aircraft really often until today I encountered this, after the takeoff data stage, the pre-flt status wasn’t saying completed, it always forced me to go back to PERFINIT, something might be broken on the perfinit, and no climb or cruise profile, I hope you can help me.

followed all the steps as usual on my daily flight but today it keep saying perf vnav not available, on the CLB section it only appeared my cruise attitude, no speed or anything else.

Hey in the fmc how do you put in a range ring on the fix info page I can't get that to work like in the boeing

That can happen for a number of reasons. The most obvious are because either the flight plan has a discontinuity, or the flight directors are not on, or the INS system isn't operating, or you're just too far away from the flight plan for it to compensate.
