Great video, mmm before switching the APU gen we do reset the gen and check if we have correct voltage and frequency, then we switch the two electric buses to on. After that we set the right after fuel pump to on and switch the start pump to of. Well done video. I flew this lady several years in Aeroméxico in real life. Greetings everyone!

Thanks for the video, it was nice to watch... Technically you have a small logical error in your external lights usage, Steady Position Lights are the one you tell outsiders that the aircraft is electrically powered and crew is in there. Beacons (or Anti-Collision Lights) are for the phase "Ok, I am starting the engines, be aware". This applies to all airliners, not only to MD :) Normally or say procedurally, you would be turning Beacons on during "Before Start Checklist" close to the end of it.
@jonbeckett2 жыл бұрын
Yep - I realised that afterwards. The interesting thing is if you read about different aircraft, and different operators - they all have slight differences in the exact time to switch on/off different lights.
@FatihKoz2 жыл бұрын
@@jonbeckett Sure it is :) But I do not think that they will switch them though, timing may change but if you switch the order ground operators will be mad :D

can you use the load manager to make a plane do wheelies down the runway? :P

I've not tried. I know you can use the reversers to make the plane role backwards, then hit the brakes, and make the nose tip up. Just like accidents with the real thing.

Is the Aerosoft CRJ not considered “study level”? I would’ve thought so
@jonbeckett2 жыл бұрын
Not really - the CRJ is very forgiving in terms of doing things out of order, or having no repercussions. For example - if you don't switch on nose-wheel steering, you can still steer. Lots of procedural things can be done in any order in the CRJ too.

What exactly is a “study level” aircraft? I’ve heard you use this term before and I don’t know what it means.
@jep11032 жыл бұрын
Procedures and flight model like RL
@jonbeckett2 жыл бұрын
As Jep replied - "study level" usually means you can follow the real documentation, and it applies to the simulator.
@onewez132 жыл бұрын
It gets quite subjective and heated at times. One man’s study level is another’s fairly detailed…reality is the default aircraft are basic…really basic. Then you get add ons from developers like carenado who build highly detailed exterior and interior models but leave out some of the systems and procedural stuff.. anything by pmdg is pretty much as detailed as they get…as for this developer..no experience of them but it looks very complex. I consider study level to be something that without reading the documentation you would never get in the air. As most of us never fly the real things it’s hard to be certain if it flys and works as true life

@jonbeckett2 жыл бұрын
It sounds like you've messed up your control mappings. The most reliable method is start from the default profile for each controller, duplicate it, and then modify to suit each aircraft. It takes time to do, but is worth it.
@ErikFigueroa2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm. The Maddog or the 146? Which would you recommend for a fella that usually sticks to GA?
@jonbeckett2 жыл бұрын
The 146 is more polished, and a lot more forgiving. The MD-82 is perhaps more satisfying from an academic challenge point-of-view.
@onewez132 жыл бұрын
I’m torn between this the 146 or the 737. Given the time I have to spend flying the 146 probably makes the most sense. Short regional routes and a good degree of complexity
@jonbeckett2 жыл бұрын
@@onewez13 the 146 is great fun - you can shortcut start-up too, which as you say - for short flights - makes it very easy and quick.

Hey guys, is anyone else having issues with the in-game default ATC stuttering when flying the Mad Dog in MSFS2020?

Good video Jonathan! I’m little confused 😐 why called Mad Dog ? Then the MD-80 and MD-82, same thing ? Seems mix these as they please
@jonbeckett2 жыл бұрын
I just googled it - "The Mad Dog nickname came not only from its MD initials but also because it takes off like a rocket and makes a hell of a lot of noise. Unlike later automated planes, the Mad Dog also needs full hands-on attention from the pilot during takeoff and landing." :)
