Beginners Guide To Repairing A Hole In Your Wall! This area had been hit by a door knob many times and repaired many times. So, it was super soft. That’s why I chose to cut it out and reinforce it with the furring strip. Then I put a hinge stopper on the door because obviously the stopper that was attached to the baseboard wasn’t working…👍🏻😅 Be sure to hit that Subscribe button for more helpful drywall, texturing and painting content here on KZbin ✅. Thanks so much for watching. -Paul

Paul I’m a DYIed. You have raised my skill doing drywall and skim skill to another level. Recently slimed coated my kitchen ceiling because of lines where the drywall was secured ( house 1956 era). I sit in my kitchen now and marvel at how smoooooth it is. Your videos are like taking a course on drywall. Thanks you very much.

I saw you over on a plumbing channel! This is awesome. I have some plumbing repairs at my brothers house and I would use this when making a repair. I would still call a dry Waller for service calls 😉. Thanks

Nice work, man! I just did my cave. and had to do a lot of things I've never done before. I had some pretty bad water damage on one of my walls that pretty much had it all. It had big blisters down to the bare gypsum, torn paper, unseated corner tape where the wall meets the ceiling, and to top it off, a hideous 80's wallpaper border, lol. I had to sand down the evil mop textured ceiling down to about a 16th proud, then skimmed it. Also had to use door shims to lower the ceiling drywall on one wall because there was an inch gap between it, and the wall due to where the joists are. Prefilled with some 45, retaped all the way around the ceiling, primed, and painted the entire room from top to bottom. It took me almost two weeks because I'm still very new to all of this. I even tried your mud-rolling technique, but abandoned it because my roller sleeve was only 3/4 nap, lol. As a result my cave looks pretty damned good. I even managed to get rid of a pretty nasty diagonal crack spanning from the closet door trim to just below the ceiling. Yours, and a few other peoples' expertise are what inspired me to get it done. Now I gotta do my wife's craft room, lol.

Paul, new subscriber here and here to stay. Just found your channel. DIYer with a large project in progress. I might hang the drywall but know enough to rely upon a professional for the taping and finishing. I would like to get a pro to skim coat the whole thing. Is there a particular type of wall board that should be used for skim coating? I've been searching through many of your videos but have not come across that answer.

We’re doing our 3rd flipper and my husbands cousin is doing the plaster work. She’s asking me what pattern we want on the ceilings. She’s covering the old fan pattern. It’s a farmhouse we’re turning modern. Can you suggest a ceiling texture that might work? She does plaster work for a living but I’m trying not to give her any kind of super hard time consuming projects. I’m more of “a less is more” is more kind of gal. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! 😊

Hi Paul- i have a wall that has a couple of coats of paint and a portion of the wall that has a 3' by 5' raw drywall paper exposed. I think someone pulled a desk off the wall. Wondering if i should apply some Fiba Fuse to fill the gap between the painted part of the wall and the exposed drywall paper? Thanks!

Thanks for all the tips. I grew up learning so much via City and Guilds in England but as I don't do this everyday I love the tips. How about a quick way for a level 5 finish? I just spotted a new product from Mudskip. Yes or no? Are there any products I can spray which levels out on the wall?

BTW Love Guardz for so many issues particularly here in Texas where they all cut corners. I was one of the first 2 buy the original product by the palette. Back in 2004. Can't remember its name though

I would've mentioned to not overlap the tape because I would want the wall to be as flat as possible when finished and not having a visible lump. I'm fussy that way.
