Looks like the roof leak or plumbing leak was never properly fixed before

Is there anyone here who can tell me what the end game for these vinyl corners is? Am I just filling and filling, because when I sand I am easily back down to vinyl - so am I creating a 90-degree corner? Stuck on a project! Appreciate the videos!

Why the HECK do you want a 12 x 12 patch on a small 8" hole? Perhaps you should mention that this is ok for smooth ceilings, not textured. As a professional drywaller who does repairs all day... please pick a new video. Good try, but you are mussing too many points. Especially... fltaping with fiber fuse needs to set before coating it with mud if you don't want it migrating to the surface of the mud. All in all...there are many better videos....😊

Hi great video! I am doing popcorn ceilings and just removed the popcorn and am sanding my ceiling. Can I use this primer to cover this ceiling and have a nice smooth finish instead of using skim coat?

Do you sandpaper the coating after applying it, and then paint? What grit?

DIY here. I have quite of bit of experience painting because my dad was a landlord and have several rental properties. I frequently helped clean up and paint after each lease. But new to dry wall and repair, my brother did that part and i would paint. Bought our forever home 2 years ago and it was a fixer upper. Finally getting around to remodeling a bathroom feom the 1980s with wall paper that was out directly on the dry wall. The walls are a mess but after watching your videos i think i can do a decent enough job.

It's hard to tell, but did you overlap the fibafuse tape at all? Or was it edge to edge touching only?

There's a couple things that can cause this problem. Dust, dry mud, or no mud under tape.. Also,it possible that the mud froze if done in winter months with no heat. It's hard to see exactly?😊

Perhaps a dumb question: where do you leave the dirty water? Open sewer? Your own sink? I'll be starring a project soon but have no clue where to safely deposit the dirty water cause i fear i might hurt/clog the pipes
@EricV2595 күн бұрын
Dig a small hole, front or backyard. Pour it in there and once dirty water has seeped into the dirt. Throw all the dirt back in the hole

@meagaindave20495 күн бұрын
Why? To put it into a pan anyway? Mixing in the pan makes sense especially if all one needs is a pan-full or less.
@handyman3035 күн бұрын
Bro.... you could of mixed that with your knife. Also, your hot mud is drying while youre showing off your unnecessary tool
@meagaindave20495 күн бұрын
Mixing with a drill and mini paddle is MUCH faster than mixing by hand which, by the way, leaves PLENTY of time to clean the mixing paddle and "show it off."

I learned you don't fix up your rental because the landlord comes through and says: "Wow, this place is nice, I need to charge more rent for this".
@DaveB3245 күн бұрын
I don’t understand why you guys sand so much If you use a hawk and trowel you can polish as it sets for a mirror smooth finish like here in the uk We also use gypsum plaster which will be dry enough to polish in under an hour and job is then done
@PaulPeck5 күн бұрын
I sand very little. Where did you get the idea that I sand a lot? Because I don’t.👍🏻
@DaveB3245 күн бұрын
@@PaulPeck maybe not so much you then but everyone seems to sand afterwards etc before painting whereas we don’t sand a thing ever as we leave it perfect with a trowel

Hey Paul, I’ve been watching your videos and getting some grade tips. Thank you very much! I just did my first ceiling patch after a plumbing repair upstairs. Some of the edges of the paper tape are lifting after I sanded. I’m thinking I’ve got to cut out those edges, re-mud and see how it goes. I really should’ve used the mesh tape. Also, I don’t think I mudded in a large enough area around the repair. I wish I could hire you for a bit of remote help over FaceTime etc lol
@gregstapells64316 күн бұрын
Hey Paul, I did a similar patch in my living room ceiling. I can’t believe how perfect yours looked with the very first coat of mud! I’m just doing a sanding on my first coat and I’ve already got a couple of pieces of drywall tape edges popping up. I guess I need more mud? It’s amazing how easy something looks but how tricky it can be in real life. Thank you very much for this. I’m going to trim the tape edges give it another coat of mud and see how it looks. I think my problem is I only went a few inches around my 10 inch patch and I should’ve probably gone eight or 10 inches or more past patched area.

Good brush technique
@gianthills6 күн бұрын
You cut then roll so you roller smooths out your brush marks. Cut twice, roll twice. Cheaters cut once.
@PaulPeck6 күн бұрын
My cuts are a little over an inch wide. Not 4-6 inches like most painters. You do what works for you. I’ll do what gives the best finish. Roll-Cut-Cut-Roll ✅👍🏻
@gianthills6 күн бұрын
@@PaulPeck A brush is 2.5 - 4". No idea how your cuts are an inch. makes no sense. You have really bad rolling technique. Why are you bending over when you have a stick in your hands?
@llandy1237 күн бұрын
I have a cracked tape joint that goes the whole width of my garage.. the beams up in the attic run perpendicular to the crack so they would block me trying to put a board down (I think) would something like this still work?
@PaulPeck6 күн бұрын
The crack might be from the drywall not having enough screws allowing movement. You might just be able to re-attach the drywall with screws at each framing member.👍🏻
