Wonderful! Thank you for showing how to use Evernote's Web Clipper. I prefer the simplified view and it's so nice to have that option in Evernote.

If I am using the Evernote Web Clipper and just need to use the screen shot feature under Clip Format, can I do that? I looked under settings and that is not an option. Just wanted to make sure I am not missing something.
@Carl_Pullein7 күн бұрын
You should find the option when you tap the web clipper in your menu bar. Once tapped, you can select which part of the screen the screen shot.

Hi Carl, should I be concerned about the privacy / security permissions required such as all web history access etc.?

The depends on where you stand on security. Nothing is absolutely safe (just ask the NSA), so the question is, how much risk are you willing to tolerate?

I have two questions and am having a hard time finding answers in the Evernote Forum or other places. I hope you can help me. I think they are probably simple questions! PS - I like your videos a lot. 1) When I use web clipper, is it holding a static webpage that exists at that moment, or is it holding a dynamic webpage/URL that updates? For example, I might use web clipper to save an article about trees on January 1, and inside Evernote I highlight some sentences. On January 7, the author of the article adds a new paragraph to the online article. On January 25, I go back to the Note to reference my highlighted sentences. My question is: when I go back to the Note on January 25, will my Note be the same as it was when I saved it on January 1 OR will the URL refresh inside Evernote and now include the new paragraph that was added on January 7? 2) This question is sort of secondary to the question above. I have a digital subscription to The Atlantic. When I am logged in and reading subscriber-only articles, and I use the web clipper to save the article, it saves the whole article. My question is: will I be able to access it later on Evernote if I am NOT logged into The Atlantic? Thank you very much!
@Carl_Pullein Жыл бұрын
Hi Erin, It's a static clip that is taken at the time you clip the article. If the page is removed, the author updates it, or anything else changes, the website you clipped will still remain in Evernote as it was clipped on the day you clipped it. Hope that helps.

@@sportsboy5935 Evernote does not have any ability to “turn off” your camera. The only way that could happen is that your phone has not given Evernote permission to use the camera. For instance, on an iPhone, you have to give an app permission to access the camera. If you don’t. It won’t allow the app the use the camera.

@Carl_Pullein3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sebastian, in iOS Safari you have the share sheet-where Evernote recently updated their ‘clipper’. It works very well now.
@oli87353 жыл бұрын
I like the new EN, but one of the biggest limitations of EN’s clipper is that I can only add clips etc to a NEW note, not to an existing note. So if you’re collecting bookmarks under a particular topic you need to create 1 note for each link. In Apple Notes I can add a link to an EXISTING note, which IMHO is a much more attractive option. (I know you can mark and merge notes but that’s an extra layer of friction and time).
@Carl_Pullein3 жыл бұрын
I've always overcome that limitation by clipping the bookmark, and then copy/paste that into the note I want to collect articles together.

Hello! I just updated to Big Sur and noticed that my Web Clipper does not work at all in Safari. I tried uninstalling then reinstalling it from the App Store, and nothing. I can see the icon at the top of the computer but it's not the clipper. It reveals a box that says type to create a note. I'm running Evernote 7.14 which is the latest if not updating to 10. Anyone have any ideas on how to get the Web Clipper working again? Much appreciated!
@Carl_Pullein3 жыл бұрын
Did you say you were using the legacy version of Evernote? If so, that is likely the reason why the clipper no longer works. The clipper downloaded from the app store is for the new Evernote 10.
@Practisse3 жыл бұрын
@@Carl_Pullein If it's the 7.14 version - is that the legacy version? If I upgraded to the new Evernote 10 - will it translate your old material into the new app well? And in your opinion is the learning curve steep? Thanks Carl!
@Carl_Pullein3 жыл бұрын
@@Practisse Yes, you're using the old version. If you are not sure about it, you can test it out using the web version. Just go to evernote.com and log in. You can then decide if you like it or not.

Firefox and Edge - are both load able, Chrome almost = Edge, so normally in parallel issue from Evernote. Clipper - almost better than Evernote its self : ))))

Indeed a great tool, the Evernote Web Clipper. Unfortunately, it does not yet support the (increasingly popular and superior to jpg) webp image format, so the clipped notes just contain blank placeholders for webp images. This really diminishes the value of Web Clipper in some cases, so I hope Evernote plans to fix this.
@Carl_Pullein3 жыл бұрын
Isn’t that the image standard that Google is trying to encourage us to use instead of JPG? Hmmm good luck with that effort.
@tizio543 жыл бұрын
@@Carl_Pullein nevertheless, denying the growing presence of webp will not make it go away and we all have to deal with websites using this format. I am not promoting webp, but it is newer technology that creates significantly smaller file sizes for equivalent image quality (plus several other advantages), which is beneficial in many ways. No need to make jpg go away, but also no need to forever only embrace the aging technology called jpg. Camera makers are now starting to support HEIF (next to jpg) for their top models, to overcome certain limitations of jpg.
