I always call it an art journal as I see them as a work of art, regardless of what's used to create it.

@@TracieFoxCreative I find that texture in visual art is so intriguing. I started sewing in my 40’s because I wanted curtains for my home that would have been too complicated and expensive to hire someone to do. So, I learned to sew lol. Which brought me to the quilt world. 😊

Wow!! I have never heard of these journals before. I have so many memorabilia from my travels and adventures through the years. My ex made me delete my FB last year and it held so many memories. I think I will work on this as a way of mending and recovering from the controlling abuse from my ex.

Analog, handwritten letters, calenders, journals, will and have emerged in a big way. Tech/phone option apps are more of a hassle personally. It keeps me more focused and slows my mind to a manageable schedule. Plus it sparks our creative part of our 🧠 that have been ignored.

It is pretty dark here in Suffolk too, great British Summer Time lol. You can do this. My video later today is an easy one but tools are required. I make a journal in an hour :-D. 7pm UK time. Hope you enjoy it.

There are no rules when journaling. Whatever you are comfortable with. Everyone has their own version of a junk journal and thats ok. Thanks for sharing Tracie. 🙂❤️

Just a quick comment here. I am not a beginner. I've been making hard, soft, etc covered journals for nearly 13 years and I still learned a few things from this! Just so beginners know that we can always learn something new from Tracie's video's. And, I like how to the point they all are. Never too slow. 😅 Fabulous video, you are so patient to go into so much detail, this is the only video I have found, that does make it simple, Yes I did sew in one of my pages upside down, so I put to long pockets on either side of the same page. I have discovered that junk journaling in a wonderful, wierd obsessive & a bit nuts, but so enjoyable. So I will see you in another.❤🎉😂

I‘m not a journal making novice anymore, but I still loved this tutorial because I am always struggling with finding the right number of pages, determining the sequence of pages, and figuring out how much I should decorate. This tutorial answered some of my questions.

This is great! I never saw the point of these journals because I didn’t understand them. I once watched someone spend a very long time sewing confusing stitches to put the pages together which is when I decided this was not for me. Thanks to this video I really want to go to my room and try this.

Wonderful tutorial. I love the tatty edges on my journals, too. I do make my personal TNs with Tomoe River paper because I like to watercolor and use fountain pens which are better for bleed.

I've been making journals for a hot minute now but I clearly remember thinking that I'd NEVER figure all this stuff out, let alone be able to MAKE something that anyone would want to look at. ...and that "three hole pamphlet stitch??" yeah, I thought I'd never figure that one out, but you should see me now! what a fabulous tour of journal making from start to finish. Even though I have made a journal or two I watched every minute of this to make sure I was following the correct way to proceed. I like the idea of making sure that you don't mix up the page order as you decorate - by simply removing a page and turning the others sideways to indicate where it goes back in. Great job as always.

Thanks for sharing Tracie. It was a pleasure to watch. I did a double take when you showed the old invoices as I used to work for John Dickinson & Co. (a leading English stationery company) in Nottingham, England before leaving for Belgium over 50 years ago now!! John Dickinson himself invented a continuous mechanised papermaking process. He also invented a new kind of paper for cannon cartridges, a type of paper that did not smoulder after the cannon had fired!!! 😄😂

This will be a huge help to beginners Tracie. I still enjoyed watching all the processes too even though I am reasonably experienced. Makes me want to make a TN JJ again. Tfs all of your wisdom!
