After 25 years of very controlled graphic design I am now attempting to learn watercolour (which is anything BUT controlled!!) I've watched what feels like hundreds of demonstrations and tutorials online but I have to say that YOU are my favourite. I hope to be able to produce paintings exactly this loose and gorgeous some day. You make it look easy, but I bet it isn't!! Hahahaha! I'll try this one. Tomorrow:)

Hi Debra, thank you for y watching...I to was a botanical illustrator...for years...your need to start from the beginning...paint like a child would...it will then be a lot easier to get loose...well done for trying

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep it in mind! Were your botanical paintings in the traditional, detailed style? If so, you've moved away from that, I think. The joy and the beauty are so well expressed with rich pigments and spontaneity in the brush strokes and the water strokes! Very beautiful. Looking forward to watching the others.

You are the BEST watercolor instructor on the internet, Mr Geeson. I want to try a looser watercolor style, even if it's only for various parts of a painting, but I use a loose style in acrylics, and I strove for a loose style when I used to use oils. IMO, if someone wants a perfect reproduction of a bunch of flowers, they should frame a photo... or get an oil painting. Your style is so expressive and spontaneous and beautiful. I will join your website when I can.

I think the problem is browser based, I was using Chrome. I tried with Explorer and got in OK. So I've signed up. I would look into the possible Chrome problem as an awful lot of people are using Chrome these days, me included. John
