I find 3D One very exceptional if you use the correct pads. Pads in this business make bigger differences than compounds even do. I use to pair 3D One with urofiber 50/50 but have found better results with Lake Country orange foam CSS pads. If Doing multiple steps i use 3D 500, then 3D 520 and if you want the very best polish then end with CarPro Reflect before adding protection. CarPro reflect has amazed me so has Carpro's orange mild clay bars

Hey man thanks for sharing your thoughts here appreciate it. I agree the pad makes the biggest difference thats why I used the same pad to compare those 2 compounds. I've used all the above, but yes it's personal preference in the end. I'm a Perfect Finish guy or The last Polish. Cheers talk soon ✌

Yep it is definitely option overload when it comes to compounds and polishes. I bought some Rupes DA Fine and yellow foam pads to try on my black Audi S5. Let's see how that goes!

I find a rinseless dampened first wipe off towel makes a HUGE difference in the wipe off of any polish, especially 3D One. I've moved on from it now though as I do NOT enjoy taping a car, so I switched to DIY Detail Gold Standard Polish. That stuff is awesome for me!

It seems that 3D One and Gold standard are essentially the same, but with some minor differences. With that said, I would get Gold Standard because they have been releasing a lot of good videos on KZbin and I have learnt a lot from them.

Try using less 3D ONE. A lot of people mention the wipe of being difficult, and that is specifically because they use too much. Granted, it any pokish can be a difficult wipe off if the panel is heated up too much and/or the paint is one the sifter side.
@Detailing_Dogma25 күн бұрын
you're right we tend to use too much, im not a fan of super oily compound no matter what. Thanks for the feedback.

3D one is oily. Have been mixing it with Megs ultimate compound and or M100 for a one step as those two tend to dust.

@Detailing_Dogma5 ай бұрын
good question! For a one-step probably start with orange hdo or rupes yellow foam with Sonax perfect finish, go from there. It would depend on the condition of the paint and the level of correction expected. Black cars usually requires 2 step for high level polishing. I'd make sure to have Black HDO too.

Salut Frank!

Are you using wool? I have experienced the complete opposite. Feels like i'm using too much most of the time unless the pad is fresh. It works great for regardless but so many other good options actually better priced such as Rupes Fine and DIY Gold Standard, I need more time using those we'll have another one step compound video at some point. Thanks for watching.
@Stainlessautos5 ай бұрын
3d one is really good while you are using it, but it stains the crap out of trim so I always have to be extra careful with it. The only compound I’ve found that has a “good” wipe off is griots fast correcting cream. Still not perfect, but much better than most. Everything else that comes off easy is weaker than all of these.
@Detailing_Dogma5 ай бұрын
Yes I agree good wipe off compound are harder to come by,, check out The last cut + if you haven't , similar to griots cuts harder finish just as good imo. Wipe off is on par with FCC. Thanks for watching

@@Detailing_Dogma it’s on the list, thanks! Plus seems to be safer on trim so bonus!

Really? I specifically use 3D ONE because it's safe on trim. For the past four years I've been working professionally in a shop, I've never had it stain trim. Ever. What cars are you polishing? What pad, tool / speed are you using?
@joeschmoe690817 күн бұрын
If you don't care about dust megs m100 has an amazing wipe off, cuts well, and can be used as a 1-step with a medium foam pad depending on paint hardness. Cheap too.

Great video. How do you know if your auto paint is hard or soft? I have a 2012 Honda Pilot that I’m going to polish. This will be my first time, I picked up a DA Polisher from Mashine and I have 3D One with Buff & Shine Urofiber Pads and CarPro Gloss Pads. I also DIY Detail Gold Standard with all 3 of their pads (wool, yellow and red jeweling pad) . Additionally I ahave Rupes blue, white and yellow foam pads. And Sonax perfect finish.
@snail415Ай бұрын
In my experience, always assume Honda and nearly every Japanese clearcoat to be soft. Toyota/Lexus quality might be very high, but that has nothing to do with paint thickness. German cars almost always have a hard clearcoat; Sonax products pair well for obvious reason (German-engineered). GM (especially Corvettes and Cadillacs) have harder paint than Japanese cars. Your safest bet is to purchase a highly-rated thickness gauge. Door jambs usually have half of the thickness of visible body panels. If a car panel shows much-higher thickness than adjacent panels, do not assume that’s clearcoat, but body filler (repair work). Hope that helps.
@alltheboost801Ай бұрын
@@snail415 thanks 🙏 I appreciate the info and help!
@Detailing_DogmaАй бұрын
She's right my friend, Japanese paint is almost always soft or medium soft. On a 2012 that lived outside that long I'd wouldnt use a fiber pad to preserve the clear coat. Start with the DIY gold/3d one and yellow pad, go from there. You have all the very good compounds and pads I would just be cautious with a old car like this, you might not remove every swirl at your 1st attempt but that's ok, you'll improve gloss and remove oxidation. Hope you don't have a black car :). Cheers
@alltheboost801Ай бұрын
@@Detailing_Dogma thanks! I’ve spent a good amount of money on some great products that I haven’t even used. lol. But getting ready to! My Pilot is a Dark Purple/Gray/Brown color, officially called Amber. It has over 240k miles and runs like a champ. Paint has some rock chips and I’m sure some oxidation. But no peeling paint and I’ve owned it for a couple years and it’s garaged. Definitely has a tons of swirls and scratches. Not aiming for 100% correction. If I got 80% that would be insane. Haha. 60-70% correction with enhanced gloss would be wonderful.

What do you think this vs turtle wax 1 n done?
@Detailing_Dogma3 ай бұрын
Never tried it sorry!
@gimblito81722 ай бұрын
I have used both, I would go with 3D One. 3D One has a more oily like appearance and it does sling if you are not careful. It also has a longer working time. Turtle wax one and done is more difficult to wipe off compared to 3D One. And it's also more expensive, almost double, compared to 3D One. But I prefer th smell of the One and Done. I know it's really important, but it makes it just a little more enjoyable when polishing.

Frank.
