I want to thank you for your very informative videos! I truly appreciate how you talk us through each move! So often it seems like artists are in such a hurry to get their pictures done that they leave us questioning what exactly they just did. So thank you for sharing your knowledge! Again it is most appreciated! You rock!

Thanks for the tutorial, I've been having issues trying to figure out how to fold the paper correctly regarding the fourth planet you made. Are you using thin glossy magazine paper? I kind of struggle trying to find the perfect magazine paper. A lot of the magazine I have use a thicker paper and it doesn't work as well.
@JonBarberArt4 жыл бұрын
Hi Thomas, Thank you for taking the time to leave this comment, feedback and question it's really appreciated :) the paper i use comes from a TV listing magazine, the paper in it is pretty thin and doesn't really have much of a glossy finish on it like some magazines but you have to use it a bit quicker then more glossier paper because it can easily stick to the paint if it gets a bit to dry hope this helps :)

Amazing video! I have a few questions. I’m trying to paint my guitar body and I’m trying to get ideas on how to do. Does this method work on basswood? Can I use a clear coat on top of it to make it a little shinny? Is it a durable paint?
@JonBarberArt3 жыл бұрын
Hi Danteyoutu, Thank you so much for watching, and for taking the time to leave this comment, feedback and questions I really appreciate it :) Yes this can work on a guitar body, just give it a light sanding with very fine sandpaper before painting it, also a clear coat on the top can make it shinny and it will also give the paint a layer of protection, hope this helps :)

Yeah I've only did 2 paintings so far and the magazine paper sticks to it. I do it quickly too so I don't know why it is doing that. I would like to know where you get the plastic from you used first, not the bags of course. Last, do you have any tips for stars? It looks like it should be really easy but, I'm having a little trouble.
@JonBarberArt3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sean, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, and the questions I really appreciate it :) The plastic im using are large plastic bags that i cut up so they are easier to use, I don't know anything about them apart from they are large plastic bags or where to get any from if i needed more, I got them from a old work place, they were throwing them in a skip, so i took them before they went in, If the magazine paper is sticking to the paint then the paint is a little too dry, Just make sure the paint is wet before you do the texture then it shouldn't stick :) I have a tutorial on my channel where i show and explain how to make stars, It's better to watch that then how i can explain the process in a comment :)

Ayy I really think your art is bad ass and learning alot. I just got a question though, I tried my hand at this and tried forming the texture with newspaper but when I pulled the paper the paint peeled off like a triple cheese pizza. Is that because I'm not going fast enough or am I using wrong spray paints?
@JonBarberArt4 жыл бұрын
Hi Christopher, Thank you for taking the time to leave this comment, feedback and question i really appreciate it :) Glad to hear you are learning a lot from my art :) You may be putting to much paint down to begin with if so just spray lighter coats of paint. Most of the time if you are not fast enough when using newspaper or any paper to make the texture it will normally stick to the paint so when you peel it back off to make the texture it will rip and get stuck to your painting. Also it shouldn't matter what spray paint you are using, Hope this helps :)

Hi Mrkenish, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, and question, it’s really appreciated :) I don't know much about it, has i got it from a old work place, they were throwing them in a skip, all i know is that they are large plastic bags, which i cut up so it's easy to use, sorry i couldn't be more helpful.

Hi Felix, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave this comment and question i really appreciate it :) If you use to much paint then it will start to mix up, try spraying lighter coats and then try it, it may take a few tries to get use to how much paint to put down, Hope this helps :)

Question. Having an issue with paint tacking up before I can texture it. Does clear gloss extend that time ? (This is on a wall not on card or canvas)
@JonBarberArt4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kris, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave this comment and question I really appreciate it :) Clearcoat can be used to wet the paint back up so you can work with it again, but just watch out how much you spray on because too much will make the paint run down the wall, I would just spray a light coat just enough to wet the paint up, to try and avoid any runs, hope this helps :)

Hi Jonathan, Yeh i know S-O-T, not far from me, I buy my paints off the internet as there's no where local that sells them, If you want to give it a try, i would just buy a black and white and a few colours you like to see if you like it, that way if you don't then you haven't spent much on it :) hope this helps :)

Sir, could you please help me? I tried to make textures as shown on the movie, but when I put the foil or paper on the sprayed cardboard and then remove it - all the spray colors blend (mix) with one another leaving just a mix on colors and no texture. I noticed that more texture shows when I wait about 10 minutes after spraying. Maybe my cardboard is too glossy so it needs to dry longer? Thank you in advance.
@JonBarberArt4 жыл бұрын
Hi Grzegorz, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave this comment and question I appreciate it :) You may be putting to much paint down before you do the texture part the more paint you put down the more chance it will mix up. Try using less paint and then do the texture and see if that works for you better, hope this helps :)

What kind of spray paint should I get??
@JonBarberArt3 жыл бұрын
Hi Daniel, Thank you very much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment and question I really appreciate it :) It really depends what suits you and what you like using, I like using spray paint from the montana range so i use that paint, other people like other brands and use that, the best thing i could say is get a black and white and 2 colours of a said brand and give them a go, then if you like that brand buy a few more and use them, or if you are not liking that brand, try another brand but only buy 4 cans (black, white and 2 colours), this way you are not spending that much on paint if you don't like it. hope this helps :)

@JonBarberArt4 жыл бұрын
Hi Rin, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave this comment and question it's very appreciated :) the material you are using for the texture is sticking ? If so then the paint is too dry when you place it on, so when you pull it back off it will stick and also it won't produce much texture at all has the paint is too dry, hope this helps :)
