This is awesome! There's really so little information out there about Masters programs in this field. Most of the masters programs have started in the past 5 years or so and so alumni are really only starting to be able to guide undergrads in what to expect. Great working leading the way on this topic Pete! I also think it's worth understanding the differences between different programs. For instance it seems like the masters at Warwick is very much focused on the economics side of things and data analysis and such, whereas my MSc Behavior Change at UCL was focused on health behavior change and was very much more based on behavior change theory and qualitative research. And there can even be great differences even at the same University. For instance I believe your guest Zoe is doing the Cognitive and Decision Sciences masters at UCL which has a different focus (more JDM courses and technical analysis) than my masters at UCL, while both may still be considered within the realm of Behavioral Science. I'm happy to see so many programs starting up and seeing the field continue to grow!

Yep! I can only really talk about my experience not others. My sample of friends is obviously a bit Warwick biased too. The diversity in training makes our field stronger though, not weaker. So I encourage people who pursue a masters to just really go for it. Then we can all chat online and compare notes 😂

Very useful video! I'm very interested in Warwick's program and wonder about the kind of coding used as I hope to get some training prior to joining a BeSci program. What programming language and type of coding & data analysis are mostly used in your program? Also what career paths do people in your BeSci network usually take? I'm very curious. Thanks in advance :)

We use R mainly. But also MATLAB and a few others too. People from the masters either go on and do a PhD and then maybe academics. Or, like me, they go into industry and the world of “Applied Behavioural Science”
