I Love Miss Linda Price!! She is the greatest. She helped me after my Uncle passed away I have been going to the 500 since 1982 and the tickets were in his name. He passed in 2014 and she helped me through the process to get his tickets in my name!! I am forever indebted to her! May God bless you Linda you are a superstar

Johnny Rutherford invited a friend and I into his stall in gasoline alley for a cold Michelob beer and a nice chat the evening before his 2nd win in 1976. Talk about a real class act and gentleman. Thank you Johnny for a great Indy 500 experience that still puts a smile on my face.

Great interview! I sent Mr. Rutherford a poster for him to autograph for me, and he signed and personalized it for me! I am a Johnny Rutherford fan for life! I wish I could meet him one day to thank him in person.

I hope I get to 83 and that I look as good as Johnny. Fantastic interview. Johnny was one of my mom's most favorite drivers. Great piece on Linda as well. This is what sets IMS apart...that personal touch that makes each race fan feel special.

Great interview, sorry it’s from a year ago! Linda Price was my dads(and later mine) go to ticket agent. Always accommodating over the phone, made you feel like she understood your plight and resolved it! Dad and I finally met her when picking out/up penthouse seats for the Father’s Day races held in 2014. It was so nice to finally put a face to the sweet lady on the phone! Dad went to his last 500 in 2018, our mobility issues and the sweltering heat did us all in!

JOHNNY RUTHERFORD ---A TRUE GENTLEMAN--------

Johnny’s 1980 race win was the first race I went to. Later I got to know some members of his family, and he is such a nice man. How he took care of his wife Betty in her final days is a testament to his character.

Thanks, this is a year old post. Glad you're so concerned about my grammar, even though I'm sure there is someone you know in real life who could utilize your obvious superior intellect. Way to be a key board warrior.

A Hero and a Gentleman! Would be great to see the ABC 1976 Indy 500 he was talking about, but it seems that is one of very few (76+72) not to be watchable on KZbin! Please help the fans see every historic Indy 500!

What a great gentleman. I had the honor of meeting him on several occasions as I used to hang out in Gasoline Alley in the mid-70s. I got his autograph the year that he won his first time. A couple of years later I saw him again and told him "Hey JR, the last time you signed an autograph for me, you won the race. How about another one? Maybe I'm your good luck charm." He got a kick out of that and was happy to sign again. Unfortunately that wasn't his year that I was proud to call myself one of his biggest fans. Separate topic: Garage area PA announcements. Rutherford was right. You couldn't repeat some of them. I'm not easily offended and I'm a little dismayed at the hypersensitivity of some people who are easily offended these days. But some of the things I heard over the PA back in the 70s were way out of line. I was VERY surprised that they got away with some of it. I haven't had the opportunity to hang out there in decades but I certainly hope that kind of thing is ancient history.

Johnny you are an ICON at the speedway! You're one of the best ambassadors for them, the fans thank you for showing up year after year!
@bartsullivan48662 жыл бұрын
Just curious but what did the PA person talk about over the loud speaker that was offensive? Every race I have been to, most of it is just generic things about the facility or race or move your vehicle type stuff. Was it racist comments or cat calling beautiful women in the stands? Cussing about the weather ruining the day?
@cyborg5552 жыл бұрын
@@bartsullivan4866 It wasn't the general PA system that the public hears. It's the PA system that could only be heard in Gasoline Alley. It was in the form of a fake report that someone had a phone call from a local free health clinic. The person being paged was a sports figure (not a race driver) who had recently been outed as gay. Implication being that they had AIDS.
