I love how the practical filming is enhanced by the cgi and the cgi is enhanced by the practical. Taking what's the best in both worlds.

Yeah you can really feel it too, 10+ years after District 9 and this approach still beats out nearly every shortcut we've seen since in Marvel movies and the like

Yeah, S9, good observation. So the skill is in combining them seamlessly, right?

@@richardconway6425 the fact the faces of humans do not look heavily cgi-ed really inspired me, all cinema is about magic, and yeah they did it seamlessly 😌

@@amitposthair then maybe you can answer my question. How do you track the heads without markers? It looks perfect! I mean you are using the practical face and combine it with the back of the CG head, right? How do you align them this perfectly?
@amitposthair10 ай бұрын
@@JakeVermont19 with alot of time and patience lol. Usually very high res models of the actors faces are provided and we align up frame by frame. What helps is creating curve lines on the model faces in Maya (the software we use), to help act as a marker guide for us to be able to make sure it sticks to that particular geometry against the plate
@richardconway642510 ай бұрын

You guys at ILM did a marvelous job. The design, the level of CG integration is out of this world! A good VFX is either invisible or serves the story and in this case you hit all the right spots. I really do hope the producers/directors/marketing folks will recognize this and they'll end this "we did everything for real" nonsense. Congratulations to everyone involved!

I dind't think much about it but everything is handcrafted. On some scenes feels that noise too harsh after looking the Mandalorian. Hope that somebody can afford Burano 😅. But at the same time I kind of like the white noise. It encoureges others artists what that the can do with their tools.
