The thing i love most about Clapton... there's not too many notes played but each bunch of notes makes a strong statement... brilliant

Yeah.... I instantly played the "There's nothing in your eyes" part like you did and it sounds perfect to me. The 1994 video is insanely powerful with those bashing power chords. I revere your work, Colin, I'm a massive Eric fan just like you and it's so warm to see the little things like you keeping his Journeyman hairstyle, you playing the power chords like him with that mid finger up ;) . We're the same! Thanks a lot to Eric for making our lives better! And just so you know, I'll always stick to your channel - promise to one EC disciple from the other. Excited for your future work. Regards!

Meticulous cover, as ever - so perfect. You unlock secrets and mysteries for players like me. May I also commend the clarity of the filming and editing - so clear and “easy” to follow, no explanation needed, it’s all just there in plain sight. Have to confess, I slow down the playback speed just to get anywhere near it though. Thanks Colin, always a thrill to see a new video.

The solo is easy on this one. The damn chording pattern and timing on this is tricky. Good job. I’ve practiced this over and over and it’s a challenge. I don’t even see how Eric can play and sing this at the same time without messing up. Amazing.

I have to say that your ability to bend your fingers like you do (intro especially) reminds me of when I was capable of doing that. My fingers are nowadays very much like unyielding Parsnips.....!!! a pleasure to watch you flexing your digits, thanks...!!!! This is a great album......!!!

As usual, fantastic and impeccable! A rigorously played version. Bravo!! A great song proposed by Gregg Philinganes for this album. "August" completed. "Lady of Verona", "Wanna make love to you" and... it's time to start what for me is Eric's last great album with his own songs.

Nice job and incredible playing, sir! I heard perfectly Clapton's voice, but I'd like to know how's the way for you to erasing clapton's guitar sound and put yours.. some special software or.. other?
@ColinStachowski2 жыл бұрын
Hi Marco, the answer is easy: I don't do anything. I simply play over the original track, just a bit louder.

Colin, I have a little question here. In a video on KZbin, EC is playing the 9th chords during the "there's nothing in your eyes " part. Prince Gala performance I think. Enlighten me please...
@ColinStachowski2 жыл бұрын
I was looking at those performances while working on this cover but that does not match what was recorded for the album. My assumption is that for the live occassions, he changed the way he plays it a bit to make it more powerfull and easier to play in front of thousands of people. You can check out his 1994 performance of this song. He simply plays power chords instead of those 3-notes rythm shapes that I jump between to do the fancy finger gymnastics. But I may be wrong as well... this is simply what sounded best for me while studying the studio version. Cheers & have fun learning it!

Fantastic! You should get an EC tribute band going.... you even got his look. I saw the August tour when Phil Collins was on drums and Robert Cray opened. It was my first concert. Even though this song seemed so different for Eric I LOVED it. I finally found a version he did back in 80s at a Princess Trust concert and he is just tearing it up. Its right after Wonderful Tonight - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mIvQpJR9aculbbc
