yes, very important. I once spend 60€ for one hour in a Studio to show the Producer the album I made in my bedroom. The best tip i got there was: Make music with others... producing can be a really lonely hobby if you do it on your own. In that way this quote resonated with me a lot. If you spend so much time making music, why not do it with others :-)

Bravo. I'm not a musician. My passion is product interface design. I follow the synth industry to get new ideas for how to generally design more fluid and natural software interfaces, like the Paper by FiftyThree drawing app that I worked on for 8 years. Osmose is such a wonderful example of electronics interface design because it honors the full dynamic range of human expressivity. This is why "gestural interfaces" often feel simpler, yet more powerful. The human mind evolved through the use of the human hand. When Osmose launched I knew it would become an important product. I feel like this video is a huge testament to the power of great interface design. This is what an optimistic view of the relationship between humans and technology.

Beautiful. This isn’t just a video about a keyboard, but about music and human beings coming together to convey emotions in a world that needs so much healing. Regarding the Osmose, am I correct in thinking it serves as a kind of shortcut compared to using the mod wheel or aftertouch? Or is there more to it - which I believe there is? I hope I can get my hands on one of these.
@ExpressiveEАй бұрын
Hi Brian, Thanks a lot for your kind comments! We do not see our instruments as "tools or products" so we're happy to have them showcased in human project settings. They're simply designed to make music, that's it! As for your question, there's a lot more to the story than MW/AT. Of course Osmose allows to save a lot of time and to have by range of modulations directly accessible through your fingers (it complements very well the traditional MW/AT uses) but I would encourage you to explore ou "Creative Tutorials" and webpage to understand all Osmose gestures and integrate them to your playing :)

How did they resample the original vocal on the osmose? Is there sample import on the synth?
@ExpressiveE27 күн бұрын
Hi, they are working with the resynthesis engine inside the EaganMatrix (Osmose's sound engine), which will be made available to Osmose owners this year. It does not sample the audio but needs you to analyze the audio snippet in an external application so that its analyses can then be transferred to the EaganMatrix, which recreates the sound in real-time. The fact that it's calculated from scratch instead of replayed as a sample makes it easier to modulate the original sound in extreme ways.

Thank you for this video! I was wondering what sampler was used for integrating Zimmer’s sounds with the Osmose?
@ExpressiveE27 күн бұрын
Hi, we are not sure what you refer to with Zimmer's sounds. The workflow was to let our Expressive E / Haken Audio team create wide array of musical suggestions played with sounds they programmed on their own in Osmose's sound engine EaganMatrix, including the use of its resynthesis engine, played through resonators. Other members of the scoring team played some parts on Osmose as well. These musical suggestions were evaluated by the team, and after lots of feedback rounds, some snippets or parts ended up in the final score which usually is put together in Steinberg Cubase (Hans' DAW of choice). Recordings before may have happened in Ableton Live, Apple Logic Pro, or Avid ProTools, depending on the person playing/recording.

the "cold experience" ... was a dusty ableton push 2. interesting and aggressive marketing decision. i don't entirely agree, but i do agree the osmose has the potential to be a more organic experience for keyboard players. however, therein lies the problem. as a professional drummer FIRST, and a percussionist, sound designer, scoring artist second - i love pads. give me 1000 of them, color coded, and make them as expressive with MPE as possible. i am the OG finger drummer - flam drags anyone? yes with fingers. this is a much warmer experience for someone who desires non-traditional instrumentation, yet are on the virtuosic level as well. to be clear, i own all of your software instruments, the touché, and have had my eyes on the osmose since you released the teaser. it is certainly an instrument that should have existed 100 years ago ... because as a result, we would have your pad version by now. ❤

Hi, apart from simple changes to exixting timbres (e.g. more or less reverb, brightness etc.) everything needs to be programmed using the "Haken Editor", an application that runs on your computer. It's for programming the mighty but quite complex EaganMatrix sound engine that is built into Osmose: www.hakenaudio.com/sound-engine
