There is a bit of an inaccuracy. When the narrator says “These French style gardens were designed at the end of the 19th century for the Prince de Conde by the famous landscape gardener Andre Le Notre.” This statement is wrong. Andre Le Notre live and designed gardens for Vaux Le Vicomte, Versailles and Chantilly to name just a few in the 17th century. Andre Le Notre was born in 1613 and died in 1700. The dates of the 19th century are 1800 to 1899.

LaNotre worked in the 17th century, not the 19th century. The style of architecture is Baroque and NOT classical! So many of these videos dealing with historical places have truly egregious errors throughout. Learn some history of the places you cover and maybe you won’t continue to embarrass yourself nor annoy the rest of us.
@mikan15463 жыл бұрын
Also, the story about the invention of Chantilly cream has little basis in actual history. They are incredibly sloppy mistakes for a professional show to make. The biggest problem with productions like this is not that they are embarrassing or annoying, but that they misinform the vast majority of people. Most people will not be intimately familiar with the history of very specific places or events, and so they will take the word of these programs as fact because they seem authoritative. I had a friend who adamantly credited aliens with the construction of ancient wonders because of the "History" channel!

Although there are many drop dead gorgeous chateaux and palaces in France like Vaux le Vicomte, i think Chantilly is not one of them -I can only judge by videos and not personal inspection but this place looks very sterile and out-of-proportion with the gardens almost totally devoid of charm -distances too great.Almost a total fail -perhaps due to the 19th century restorations.
@thenumberoneyou47254 жыл бұрын
If you've never been to a place how on earth can you judge? Chantilly is wonderful and serene and not at all like what your comment suggests.
@kaloarepo2884 жыл бұрын
@@thenumberoneyou4725 You are right and if I visited I would probably like it.However, I read that a prominent French writer visited the place and was not impressed.This was soon after the 19th/20th century restorations so perhaps I was influenced by that person's report.Unfortunately I can't remember the guy's name..
