I don't think I've ever seen any collection of people with a better work ethic than Pentatonix. When they won The Sing Off and were supposed to get the prize of a recording contract, but the record company backed out, these kids a (ages19-23, I think, at the time), didn't turn around and go home. They dedicated themselves to get there on their own, deciding to do covers on their couches to upload to KZbin. They filmed and recorded Daft Punk in the closet of Kevin and Avi's apartment for a budget of $400, and it won a Grammy. The moving couch in Bohemian Rhapsody is a comment on their couch videos and the journey they went on. They just got back from their European tour and before that an Asian tour, and will be going on their North American tour in a couple of months. In the middle of all that touring, they filmed a Hallmark movie, did at least two benefit shows, had writing sessions in Nashville, got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, were nominated for a fourth Grammy and attended the Grammys, did a song in a Grammy sponsored retrospective of The Beach Boys, and were on The Masked Singer. In the meantime they are working on more Christmas music and another original album, which means videos, too, plus at least two of them are actively working on releasing more solo work. Scott is getting married during their tour break, and Kirstie and Kevin both have little girls. Kevin has a podcast, too. I got a Cameo from Mitch a couple of days ago and I said I hope he had a little time to chill between tours, but I knew they were really busy. He said, yeah, he had just gotten home from a band meeting right then and they never stop working. They really don't!

One of the more in-depth BTS videos of PTX's is the Recording of Evergreen. It's a 20 minute video of their recording of the album Evergreen which was released in 2021. It shows a lot of the studio work of how they record the songs and the way the group works with each other and their process. Many of the reactors who are involved in the music industry find it fascinating to view.

The Bohemian Rhapsody MV is one where it's easy to get lost in the music, and not realize just how much hard work by so many people went into making it (including, but not limited to, PTX themselves). This gives a slight feel for how hard it is to put one of these things together, although this one is probably more difficult than most due to the non-cooperative motorized couch! Favorites: Say Something, My Heart With You, My Favorite Things, Sing!, Mary Did You Know, Come Along

Thanks for doing this one 💜Their work ethic is insane but their attitude always feels humble to me, they know they are very lucky to be living their dreams, they even wrote a song about it: The Lucky Ones. It’s extremely difficult to name a favorite Pentatonix song, they have so much variety! Here are some of mine: Carol of the Bells Mary Did You Know Run to You Gold Come Along Sing New Rules x Are You That Somebody Amazing Grace

At the beginning of the video there is a church in the background, it's the privet road for the church that they are on. They had to block off both ends and they only had it for the one night. Watch the video closely and you can see some headlights in the background once or twice. Also it was getting light and they had to put up a black backing to finish shotting. Because you like behind the scenes videos, you should watch "The making of Evergreen", their recording of their Evergreen album.

Also, it's important to remember in most music videos the audio is recorded in a studio and then edited together with the visual part.

Thanks for the video, Ash. As long as I've watched PTX, I've never seen this one! It is fascinating how they make things work - and how they always work together!!

There's a BUNCH of little easter eggs they put into this song as well. The couch moving like another poster said was a nod back to their time shortly after the Sing Off (Season 3) when they were dropped by the record label and decided to upload videos onto KZbin they were inevitably on one or the others couch to shoot it. A lot of the photography of the video is a nod to the original Queen music video and how it was so trippy and the bridge section with the torches also a tribute to the original video. In the beginning when you re-listen with the headphones they pan the sound from one ear to the other just like in the original track. When Mitch lays on the couch with the rest of the group walking alongside is a tribute to Freddie's death and the walkers are the Pallbearers. When they are all lounged out on the couch towards the end, it is a reference to Queen's album cover art of 'Sheer Heart Attack'. The shot of the starry sky and the shooting stars are in reference to Brian May the lead guitarist in Queen and how he's an astrophysicist, with the shooting stars representing each band member of Queen. Brian May also saw this upgrade and posted a link in his socials with one word 'Enjoy!' I am also like...95% convinced that Mitch is Freddie Mercury reincarnated - Mitch can grow the Freddie mustache perfectly, he looks eerily like Freddie (especially in the Masked singer performance), He can go up to Freddie's high range, and Freddie passed away a year before Mitch was born!

My favorite? That's hard to answer; I have several: • "Bohemian Rhapsody" • "Imagine" (the official video) • "The Prayer" • "Run To You" (an original - GORGEOUS 5-part harmony throughout) • "Light in the Hallway" (an original) • "Thank You" (an original) • "O Come All Ye Faithful" • "Todrick Hall - The Wizard of Ahhhs (feat. Pentatonix)" "Wizard of Ahhhs" requires some explanation: 1. It's an homage to the original movie, "The Wizard of Oz," starring Judy Garland. If you've never seen the original it won't make sense, so take care of that first (besides, "The Wizard of Oz" is a good movie). Having seen "Wicked" is not a substitute. 2. The copyright for "Wizard of Ahhhs" is owned by Todrick Hall, not RCA (PTX's record label), and Todrick seems to be more interested in publicity than in stomping on innocent reactors. You likely won't have to obscure the video in any way in order to keep it from being taken down. 3. "Wizard of Ahhhs" is almost 7 minutes long. Be sure and set aside enough time for your reaction.

They needed darkness for their special effects with the flashlights, so might as well keep the whole thing dark.

The audio was already recorded and they were lip-synching, as in all of their official videos not counting their "Evolution of..." videos (at least everything since "Daft Punk" - when they had no record label they were generally recording audio and video live). The way they lip-synch, however, is to actually sing, so all motions are accurate and it's easy for them to stay in time. Recording the audio at the same time as the video would have been very difficult, given all the cuts they had to make to put it together properly and the fact that they were outside in the cold with no mics.
