1:55 when you're an athlete and you're exercising a lot you lose sodium in your sweat 2:01 sodium is an electrolyte that helps with muscle contraction and relaxation 2:06 if you're low on sodium you could be at increased risk for cramping 2:21 fruit snacks, gatorade, rice krispies treats: simple broken down carbohydrates to get back into their blood stream

A lot of you saying that this diet is bad, do not know what you're talking about. She is a professional nutritionist. The stuff that they are eating would be bad for YOU because most of you all are normal people, and do not physically put demands on your body that allows you to eat that stuff. These are division 1 football players who have multiple practices/workouts a day. Complex carbohydrates (brown rice, quinoa, whole grains) take a long time to digest and be available for energy use. Therefore, simple sugars are more suitable for football players because they need immediate sources of energy. I am pretty sure their diets are better at home

Water is way better for you. And there are ways you can add electrolytes without all the sugar. I usually add some lemon and/or lime juice and some salt (preferably Himalayan).

Is the nutrition the players received in the Mac era less or the same as the Mullen era? Thanks to Coach Savage the team looks more physically fit and well equipped to take on a grueling SEC schedule and season. Great video!
@jfoster15154 жыл бұрын
The nutritional program has always been top-notch... However, it takes leadership, discipline, and punishment to make it work... I always liked Mac, I just don't think he was the perfect fit for The Gators...

I see a large amount of processed pseudofoods, and only sugary fruits. Are macro and micronutrients calculated, and saturated fats and simple sugars minimized? Are leafy green vegetables and complex carbohydrates addressed? How about adding high nitrate foods such as beets or arugula prior to exercise to minimize muscle soreness and reduce recovery time? This looks a bit like school lunches where corporate interests and government subsidized farm products are dumped.

Complex carbohydrates take a long time to digest and be available for energy use. therefore, simple sugars are more suitable for football players because they need immediate sources of energy. I am pretty sure their diets are better at home. But, for a college football road game, they need what is efficient and available. Chik-fil-a is one of the better road options, they do not "process" their chicken like everyone else.

Simple sugars provide instant source of energy while complex carbs take a while. So the foods you mentioned are good for post workouts and games, while they eat healthier throughout the day. This story focused JUST on the road game scenario and not on the everyday diet.

Just because they vegan don’t mean it’s the best thing for everybody and all athletes need to start doing it

@@tchoopee5143 you’re not wrong. Although a vegan diet can work for just about anyone with the right modifications/customizations, but it can be very difficult to do that. Especially for sake of convenience for certain body types, it makes sense to incorporate some animal products (chicken, fish, eggs.)
