Love this deconstruction. So many elements coming into play to create the beautiful final image, perhaps starting with that amazing pair of boots. They remind me of the movie and stage production Kinky Boots. ❤

I just tried my new optical spot for the first time with a 50mm lens. How do you focus it?
@lindsayadlerphoto2 ай бұрын
there are two rings. one is aperture, one is focus.

@@lindsayadlerphoto I think they were trying to save money-- it didn't have any. It didn't even have a box. It was just wrapped in foam and bubble wrap. Which surprised me from Adorama. Thank you for the guidance.
@lindsayadlerphoto2 ай бұрын
@@jamesg1974a No box? Did you buy used? This doesn't at all sound like the one we made for Westcott designed specifically for this tool. It definitely comes in a box.
@jamesg1974a2 ай бұрын
@@lindsayadlerphoto just a plain ef cannon 50mm 1.8... but this one is now discontinued on adorama . It was only $98... also, it is much more focused and crsip when the light is pointed directly at the backdrop

That green edge along you, Ms. Adler, what lens are you using that has such chromatic aberration?! Irony.
@lindsayadlerphoto6 ай бұрын
You mean how I used a nanlite to create a green rim light? lol. not aberration
@jpdj27156 ай бұрын
@@lindsayadlerphoto - I know. Just joking. But, have you actually maybe never seen chromatic aberration in photos? Once you see it, provided it's there, you cannot not see it any longer. No, your image does not have that aberration, but the green edge light gave the association. I love your images and creativity, to be seriously clear.
@lindsayadlerphoto6 ай бұрын
@@jpdj2715 ahahaha okay I thought maybe. Yeah, I had some old lenses back in the day that had green/magenta around edges of tree branches-- was awful once you saw it. New lenses of course not having that problem. xo
@jpdj27156 ай бұрын
@@lindsayadlerphoto - "of course" applies to your brand. Imagine a studio portrait that I would normally shoot at f/5.6 or f/8, but as a way to soften irregular skin already in camera, I shoot at f/1.4 with a very sharp lens that consequently has a very shallow depth of field. Magenta tinge on the cheek and a bright greenish tinge on the edge of the ear. I migrated to mirrorless with much better lenses in 2019 that did not make me suffer from this any longer. Yes, stopping aperture down made it go away but you buy shallow depth of field to be able to use it. (I'm in the McNally brand camp) That CA and tint differences between different lenses were my recurring rant since 1975. But it was all predictable, and generally manageable, it had worldwide support, but I didn't need that because it never failed.

All those profoto lights add up to a lot of dollars! Do the opticals and gelled bare bulb require the full power? I’m more in the Wescott FJ400 price range on gear. I guess if I shoot at 1200 ISO it would work.
