@@lindsayadlerphoto i have mirrorless camera. But just found out that in AF continuous it does not bump iso and aperture to set focus. Changed to singe ans viola, works perfectly. Thanks 🙂

Umbrellas are essentially soft boxes without front diffusion and soft boxes are essentially umbrellas with front diffusion. Umbrellas on a boom are essentially light bounced off a ceiling. Add in some differences in shape that affect how wide the light spreads or the need to have something or somebody to hold a reflector like a $4 sheet of foam board from walmart, you can get the same diffusion and bounce until have the chance to get specified equipment.

Sorry, but I don't know. The video is just a "proof of concept" -- I don't do this method often, so what you see used in the video is what I used and I don't have info on other paints or methods.

Hi Lindsay! Thanks so much for this awesome deconstruction. I have a mylar shoot planned for next week, am I able to use a bare bulb in the same position (light in front of model) instead of a fresnel? Or would something like a beauty dish work better? TIA
