2 things! IKEA sells peg boards that screw onto your desk top, really a game changer for organization. And get a teflon sheet! They are awesome for protecting your surface. Tim Holtz sells some at local craft stores, but I bought a pack of them on amazon on the cheap. Keep on crafting!

This video was great! I always love to see "behind the scene" videos like this, especially when it comes to making/selling crafts. I can tell you really put a lot of care and attention into your craft/product, and I know the people that buy yours ears (hopefully me one day!) will get a very quality product! Maybe you can do a video about how you price your ears, and what goes into the price you end up charging. I think a lot of people don't realize all of the work it takes to create a product like this, and always complain about the price being "too expensive."
@MagicallyEmily4 жыл бұрын
Yes, pricing is definitely difficult. I know I still underprice my ears for the amount of time I put in them, but I always want my ears to be as 'attainable' as possible

This was such a cool behind the scenes! Thank you for making this. Also I finished my PhD almost two years ago now and I just want to offer some words of support. I know how rough that final push can be. You totally got this! Don't let that imposter syndrome sneak in. By this point you are almost certainly the foremost expert on your dissertation topic. And clearly you're incredibly resourceful and persistent, being able to run a side hustle of your OWN etsy shop doing creative and beautiful work at the same time as your PhD work! I definitely did nothing other than my PhD during that time and I am in total awe of your ability to maintain some balance in your life.

I've been enjoying your DIY series so much more that we are all on quarantine. I rewatched the Christmas donut ones again and also the lollipop and was so inspired. But didn't you used to show the peppermint ears DIY too or some other Christmas DIY? I feel like I watched that in the past from you but didn't see it in the playlist. My fave part of seeing behind your scenes was how much supplies you have on hand right down to the boxes and the sugar supplies and fabric paints. I swear you are so much more professional than many other small shop owners and super organized, and like I already told u I keep checking if your shop has reopened as I do want to support you. Thx for all this great content. Up next I have to watch your counting of the pins updated video for 2020...can't wait!

Hi Emily. This was fun to see your shop staging and sewing area. I agree with you about how it is important now to include "Disney" in the description of the ears. Awesome behind the scenes video and great work! I've been making ears for my family and friends Disney trips over the last couple of years. Not only the making of the ears itself (I'm also making my own ears and I'm a cosplayer - so I know how much effort goes into these things) but also all the rest that goes into running the shop. Having all the supplies on hand, the etsy part, packaging, promoting and dealing with annoying wanna be influencers 🤣 wow~ kudos to you for then also being able to be such an awesome youtuber👍👍👍 Haven't been following you on instagram yet. I can really recommend BigCartel, when one of my pieces of art went viral on Twitter, I looked into what big artists were using to sell prints or merch. You can list 6 items for free, and for more it starts from just $10 a month and that means no fee's lost (aside from conversion fees on Paypal of course) and I've had literally 0 problems with them. I can't recommend them enough, especially if you just want to put up even 6 for preorder so you're not overwhelmed at a time. You can cancel at any point, and I still made a massive profit! I have the free 6 items up on mine at the moment and it's just a nice side income to when people find my shop and want the piece that went viral! It really is fantastic, look into it! You have total control over costs and changing the amount of shipping with multiple items etc. Good luck, talented lady!!

I purchased churro ears from your shop when you first released the design. I adore them! I don’t recall having the option to add teeth to the band, I did add the churro castle to the center (seriously adore that design, I have the pin too lol ) . Is there a way I might order the teeth for the headband? Either from you or elsewhere? I’ve been using hair clips to try and get the ears not to slip off my head, with only moderate success. Awesome video as always Emily!

We have the same sewing machine! I was looking for ways to make money since I've been part time job hunting for almost a year with no luck. (Being an autistic adult makes interviews and the job seeking process difficult) Thought of starting a small shop and making assorted things but wasn't sure if it would take off since I'm not good at social media. I don't have a phone that can support Instagram. (No space and its way behind on its Android version, can't update it because its not connected a network) I don't have much money to invest in a shop and I fear that if I spend a lot it will be for nothing.

There was quite a long time I didn’t have an Instagram for my shop, I got all my traction directly through Etsy. So if you have good titles, tags (and comply with Etsy’s free shipping policy), you’ll show well in the search results, and your shop can grow from there!
