Every part of this production is quite brilliant but learning that Leela's eye is not CGI but actual make-up was the most impressive for me. I could never have guessed that was actual make-up watching the fan film.

I know it's a somewhat shallow and odd thing to critique but I wish they found a way to make Leela more attractive. I mean, I feel half of the entire appeal and point of the character was the disturbing amount of beauty for a one eyed alien; and furthermore Fry's inability to stray from her due to this. Don't get me the makeup and prosthetics are phenomenal but I can't see any guy from the 20th century being attracted to this, and because of this it kind of takes away from the performance.

Hey Kenneth, fuck off. And yeah, I can see where you're coming from Jack. Leela was made to be a sci-fi babe. But the thing is, if the eye was natural, it would look good, but because it's added on, it doesn't look so good. But it's really a minor complaint dude. If you really want to represent her in live action faithfully, you had to cast a really hot chick and maybe do some CGI work to make the one eye look natural. And it looks like they are trying to do everything as practical as possible. So, I guess the cartoon is the only way you'll get that representation.

I watched the show from the very beginning, too, and honestly still think of it as a relatively recently made show. Then, as he said "way back when..." I suddenly realized that it premiered in the fall of 1999. The show is almost 18 years old. Damn.

The problem with the eye was that it was too dead. It didn't move or blink... it freaked me out. Some things should be CGI. Props on the complexity of the eye, tho. And the girl who played Leela, gorgeous!

The Planet Express set bridge set oddly enough reminds me of the old Doctor Who Tardis sets from the Classic Series with the way the instrumentation and buttons are. It's more like making do with what's available than reinventing the wheel and TRYING to picture what these things are like 300, 1000 years from now. There's really nothing else I can think of that's quite like the PE's bridge...

THIS IS AMAZING! The writing is spot-on and the set pieces and production values are nothing short of perfect! My only complaints would be some of the acting and the pacing. This film moves a lot slower than an episode of futurama. It feels a lot like the slower pacing of the pilot episode mixed with the top-notch writing from season 2 or later.

The best Lela cosplay I've seen handled the eye but just using the bang to cover the other one completely. I get they couldn't quite do that here but it seems they should've looked for other alternatives than what they did.
