@forsee9396 You will do great! I won a verbal mention in my very first MUN.. Be well prepared for GSL, Moderated Caucus, and ask QUESTIONS. Also use chits to their fullest. Don't get overwhelmed and never be scared to speak. Take every chance of speaking and you will win.

It's simply because the UN when it began agreed to build it's HQ in the US, and the US agreed to give a portion of it's land to the UN. The UN HQ is actually international territory, where US taxes don't apply. According to the UN charter however, the General Assembly can choose to meet anywhere (and actually has) if it chooses to do so. It's just easier to do it here, in it's own HQ.
