Behind the Scenes Studio Tour: AP Films (Supercar, Fireball XL5, Supermarionation)

In this behind the scenes tour, the original studios where Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's team created Supermarionation classics is recreated using surviving photographs and CGI in order to allow you to step onto the set of Supercar. Your guide for the tour is Alan Pattillo, a director who brought episodes of Supercar, Fireball XL5, Stingray, Thunderbirds and more to life.

About Me:
Century 21 Films Ltd is a multi-faceted production company whose work spans drama to documentary, miniature effects to puppet shows. It was founded by a group of filmmakers who first collaborated on Filmed in Supermarionation, the story of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's hit puppet shows including Thunderbirds, Stingray and Captain Scarlet.
Since then, we have worked for a multitude of high-profile clients including ITV, BBC, Mammoth Productions, British Film Institute and the Halifax working on projects such Thunderbirds, Endeavour, Doctor Who and The Twilight Zone.
In addition to our regular filmmaking services, we specialise in ‘Supermarionation’ - the puppetry filming technique used to make shows like Thunderbirds and have collaborated with ITV repeatedly to provide specialised services. Our work has been featured on The One Show, This Morning, Good Morning Britain, BBC News, ITV News and Mastermind.

It's a frequent shock to discover hugely legendary things (such as "Termite Terrace" and the Supermarionation era) occupied such small production spaces and survived for only a few years.

This particular building is still there - it is presently used by a tyre company. You're thinking of the studio that came after.

I still believe that the A.P. Films buildings in Slough should've been preserved and served as a Museum for everything "Supermarionation". There was no need to demolish it for Real estate purposes.

Although the later studio was demolished a few years ago now, this particular studio building remains on Ipswich Road - it is used by a tyre company.
