Loved the original shows, I was about 8 or 9 when it came out. Nice to see the updated versions, Venus' eye 'makeup' was weird on this episode, in later episodes, she looks very hot!

Good idea Buuuttt - I like the original ones when they where actually started as Puppets, that was the technology back then in 1964, Gerry Andersons group cannot beat that now, and his son is running the company, keep the tradition just like his dad, and have ALL the series on DVD, Robbie he robot is actually Gerry Anderson voice, and this version of Robbie looks like a Robot Zombie saying "On Our Way Home - BRAINS!"..

I loved the show as a kid, but, after watching only a few minutes of this animation, I realise: Steve Zodiac is an astounding male chovanistic pig. No wonder in Star Trek OS Kirk had a girl in every port. (Yes, in my opinion, Star Trek is very, very similar to XL5). And ST Next Gen, we have Picard, and Data the Robot on the Bridge, with Dr Crusher in the medical area back in the ship, who, in later episodes, has regular 'breakfasts' with him...

Wow ,totally amazing ,I,m 63 and watched this as a kid ,like thunderbirds it should have made a comeback , great beginning ,middle and end and the music and voices ,wow what an inventive era ! I cannot imagine how many hundreds of hours it took you to do this ,to bring it up to date ,amazing ! Most people on here love it or have no understanding at all about it ,I make Computer music ,it takes a very long time to do ,was married to a Graphic artist ,sure Adobe fine , outside of that way too challenging . Now for some pathetic criticsm ,forgive me , the lighting on Steves face is too shiney and the eyes Venus too dark around them and XL5 too matt , that is all ,99 per cent, you have bought into this era , you should be very proud !

I'm guessing the spaceships that can be assembled using this kit resemble Star Wars X-wing fighters without violating any copyrights. So the resemblance is more by default than design. However I do pay homage to Star Wars in Episode 2 Part 1 "Flight to Danger" and Episode 3 Part 1 "The Granatoid Tanks." Also be sure to check out Episode 6 Part 1 "Plant Man from Space". No Star Wars homage but the animation software is vastly improved and the characters upgraded in appearance.

I understand about the ski ramp for takeoffs and I tried not to alter the show too much from the original. But from a military and logistics standpoint I thought retractable landing gear was a more suitable option for a mobile attack/defense space craft. Thank you for watching and the comment.

Some have given a negative comment but I liked it. The voices were done well too. But the first thing I noticed was XL5 has retractable landing gear instead of the track and rocket sled. In the original, XL5 really wobbles along the track and I wonder why the model makers didn't simply build a wider track so the take off would be smoother. Anyway, the best part I think is the voice actors, they did a great job.

Pure genius. Last night I watched the scene from Absolutely Fabulous (the hospital) where lady penelope appears in Eddie's dream. There is just something so totally bizarre about all the characters from torchy and four feather falls to Troy tempest and the International Rescue people. The way the grown up expert sons in IR all call Mr Tracy dad or father. And Brains. Keep the original sound track and stories and add animation, it still works.... I take my hat off to you for keeping the dream alive...

Of course it eventually broke and as the years passed I couldn't remember what TV show it was based on. I thought it was from the Thunderbirds, but a year ago when I was able to watch all those great Gerry Anderson shows on Amazon, I realized it was Fireball XL5. The quality of the production is excellent but the characters, especially Venus (!), look as if they have been hitting the bottle for decades since the early 1960's !!! What happened, didn't they get the promotions they expected and then drowned their sorrows ?

Thank you for watching and commenting. The characters in Episode 1 suffered from exaggerated facial features (to mimic marionettes) and dark lighting. Improvements were made in the remakes of Episode 2 "Flight to Danger" Episode 3 "The Granatoid Tanks" Episode 4 "The Doomed Planet" and part 1 of Episode 5 "The Space Immigrants" Give them a watch and hopefully you'll see the improvement.

I now understand the problem you initially had with the figures, however what I wrote was meant jokingly - written after my very first impression after seeing my former favourite, Venus, look so shattered - and the other characters aren't that bad at all. The original puppetry had an honesty to it. You knew that the characters were marionettes, just as you know Wallace and Gromit are claymation puppets. That enabled you to suspend disbelief in a way that isn't possible with CGI.

Thank you for hearting my comment, even though I didn't like the show; it shows remarkable good spirit on your part. If I might make some positive suggestions. I think you have major problems with the characters' faces. They fall into the "uncanny valley" where they're too close to being human, but are clearly wrong. Venus' hair really isn't well done at all, either. And I'm not normally affected by the uncanny valley effect - I can watch Polar Express just fine, whereas others are completely creeped out by it. You also have a problem that objects change from stationary to moving in a single frame. This is apparent with the hover scooters that move from zero to full speed instantaneously, and then change course instantaneously. When Fireball starts to roll, it changes from stationary to moving much too soon. Real objects, including puppets, need to accelerate over a few frames or they just look wrong. I know there's a special animation term for this, but I can't recall it at the moment. I hope these comments help.

Nice effort at recreating a classic. You should have kept the launching ramp though, instead of turning XL5 into a big plane. The launch ramp sequence of the original made it all the more realistic (and spectacular) and clearly explained to kids why the whole ship couldn't land and the capsule was needed. But nice job nevertheless.

Thank you for watching and the positive comment. I agree the original rail takeoff was terrific. However, as the main space defense force, I decided to make Fireball XL5 more mobile. I figured the cost in repair of the derailed train car after every takeoff would have been exponential. Also the entire XL5 ship can land on alien planets (with or without Fireball Jr) as it does in Part II of Episode 1 and in future episodes.

Well you could have modified it by having the ramp work more like an aircraft carrier catapult... But your the creator of this reboot so it was your choice since you had further ideas to exploit with the landing gear of the ship. Looking forward to see it.

The hair question: It's hard to predict what hair styles will be like in the future (show is set in 2067) especially in a global/world wide combined military operation. Also was limited with hair choices in animation software, more will become available soon. Perhaps Lt. Ninety will visit the base barber.

Original soundtrack; ambitious effort but screwed with far too much featuring scuzzy, meth-head looking characters. Colourizing the original & cleaning up & enhancing the film (strings, awkward movements etc.) might have been enough.

@@HarborsidePressLLC Its not your fault the character design is a little off putting they should have made the characters to look more closely to the original puppets but mor humanized. Same with robby the robot. This is what happens when animators (I used to be one) think they can do better. They want to put their own personal stamp on it. Captain Scarlet is a good example of what they should have done with the XL5 revamp.
