The humble engineer, slightly awkward, scrap wood genius with just enough humor is why I love watching his videos. No one else has made me think so hard about the possibilities and versatility of even the pulpiest board of dumpster pine. He's done things with wood I thought only feasible with metal.

I first found Matthias when figuring out the mathematics of compound angles. In the first video of his I saw, he casually mentioned while assessing a bandsaw, "I could build a better one". I was like, "what the fook did you just say?" I then proceeded to watch every video he ever posted. He really changed the way I think about woodworking.

I love Matthias’s woodworking projects. I'm still learning in woodworking. I thought if you want to make a furniture you need to make it from fancy woods but he shows me that you can make anything from scrap woods. And what he invents is another story. Thanks Matthias.

I know a guy, Richard; who seems basically unstoppable. Another friend gave him an old metalworking lathe (it was in a jumble of bits in a box). He expected it to end up in the scrap metal bin. A week later Richard was making things ON THAT LATHE! So metal Mike was impressed; so I met him. Since I met Richard; I have stripped, cleaned and totally rebuilt about 6 major Machine tools with him and moved his whole shop three times. We have also designed and built many other things together. Making & fixing stuff is fun. But I know from years of experience that shooting and making videos of the process IS bloody hard work.I did this commercially for about 15 years (with a shooting crew, or alone). So I really appreciate what Matthias does.

This guy is so humble it kills me. Mathias you’re not popular on KZbin because you got there first! You’re popular because your videos are awesome! You have something to say and you’re bursting with ideas. Ye, woodworking videos are common on KZbin these days but I have yet to find a channel quite like yours.

I was pottering around dad's workshop and that brought me ability to thing about how things work inside and why. And I see the same passion and ability in Matthias and I'm truly thankful I found him (which was not that hard, to be hones). And so he woke up this need, urge and passion for DIY something by my own hands in me again. Thank you Matthias !

Lots of people can envision a way in which a tool could be helpful, but people like Mathias are rare as hen's teeth. Most people could not figure out how to engineer and produce those tools. Would love to be the neighbor that could hang out and marvel at the ingenuity of those projects. Thanks Mathias, for your interesting projects!

I enjoy watching Matthias Wandel for many reasons . His personality he is a down to earth likable guy and also very smart, I like the fact that he shows his thought process and even what didn't work out and why he changed it, Most KZbin channels will cut that stuff out.I I think he can build anything out of wood if he sets his mind to. I really like the jigs and wood working equipment he builds, I will say when I first watched his channel many years ago I had my doubt about building machinery out of wood but after watching his videos the thought is what needs to be metal is metal and done very deliberate and stuff that take abuse will be hard wood. I also like the fact he takes old furniture and repurpose what he finds. He is also very comfortable talking to the camera. In all he is one of my favorite channels to watch.

I can't remember how I found his channel. It was either the build your own bandsaw project, the long reach clamps or the mouse catching ones. But it's always a good day when one of his videos appears in my feed. I particularly like the way he tests his builds, usually by hanging off them or jumping on them. =)

I found him when someone posted the video of him making a honeycomb-style cake-cutter on reddit. It's basically a useless tool for the most part, but I couldn't believe how well thought out his approach to that was. Over the course of the next week I watched a ton of videos. Absolutely amazing stuff. His creativity and his mastery over multiple disciplines is basically unmatched from what I've found on youtube.

The ingredients of Matthias's success should also include his evident integrity, in part manifested in a very cautious and sparing approach to sponsorship by big tool manufacturers.
