This was the movie that cemented my decision to move to Manhattan from a drab uncultured uneducated suburb just south of Detroit. September of 2000 I bit the bullet & did it. 14 years later I've never looked back & it was the best decision of my life. Thanks for being a part of that nudge, Steve!

I! LOVE! THIS! SO! MUCH!!! And YOU, Sweet Man! South Africa Steve here again, just swooned through this fab review & had to say THANK YOU! again, a million times over, for the joy you have brought to my life these past 23 years. I mentioned that my husband & I saw 'Trick' on our very first date together in August 1999: I'm a musician (fragile!) and even now there is a photo on my piano of us canoodling in a convertible, on the way to the theatre, lo that long-ago Hotlanta night. And here we are, 2 more tired old queens, half a planet away & STILL AT IT! It is the greatest joy and pleasure to meet you after all these years! Thank you for the loving, laughing, bottomless (!) joy you have given to so many countless fans for so many years. Including me. All my love and best wishes to you, dear Steve, from these faraway Georgia boys, across the waves. (Boy, that peach! Is she LOUD!) Hugs! OLÉ!

Hi Steve, thank you for sharing this video! #Trick was one of a few gay movies that really changed my life, that ushered me to see homosexuality in a different light, and that ultimately assured me to be me. I love all the positive messages in #Trick. Sometimes, we can tell everything we needed to say with just a simple message, and to me, #Trick has profoundly done that. So envy that you get to kiss the gorgeous J.P. Pitoc! He was very hot in it and as I see from his latest project, still is. And yes, Christian Campbell was absolutely adorable in #Trick. Perfect screen couple indeed! If you still in contact with every cast member and crew of #Trick, please convey my gratitude for creating such beautiful, inspiring movie, and thank you for being a wonderful part of my life. God bless you.

Summer 2004: I was working as a server at a restaurant called Vento Trattoria, located where Hudson St, 9th Ave and 14th St all converge. I was setting up the patio for service and was humming and/or quietly singing a hilarious song from the movie Trick called "Como Te Gusta Mi Pinga." Literally at that very moment, who comes walking past the restaurant but our friend here, Steve freakin' Hayes, who performed the song in the movie. I stopped him dead in his tracks and mentioned the delightfully bizarre coincidence and how much I loved that movie and song. He was so gracious and appreciative. A classic Manhattan moment for me! :)

Steve, Count me among those for whom Trick was a life changing movie. It showed me a version of life I wanted so badly I moved half way across the world to find it. I am forever grateful that I had the experience of being young and gay in New York and San Francisco and have had a few nights like that in my life, when the possibilities of what might be set your heart beating. I recently introduced a 23 yo friend to the movie (I'm 44 now but was about his age when I first saw it) and he absolutely related to it and loved it just as much. It is the type of move that defines the phrase "timeless classic". What a treasure, what performances. Thank you, thank you for this work of art.

Steve is right when he compares "Trick" to the romantic comedies of the Hollywood of the 1930s and 1940s. This is what I told friends when "Trick" came out. It has a touch of Billy Wilder and Mitchell Leisen in it.

So that's where I know you from: Trick. I bought a copy of the DVD and donated the DVD to the SLC library; don't know if they added the DVD to their collection since they rejected Circuit.

You know Steve, I wish everyone in the United States had the opportunity to see you in "TRIED OLD QUEEN AT THE MOVIES". I believe your infectious love of movies would inspire everyone to appreciate and love old movies for the gems they are. Maybe even create some awesome actor and director because of you. From my mouth to Gods ear.:^)

I used to pick up a friend in NYC who was & still is a drag queen for a couple of summers & brought him out to the Fire Island ferry & we'd joke about the Coco Peru line "It Burns".😏 He met Clinton & others over the years as well as Jesse Volt & others from what I remember. You meet so many out at the grove Steve, ya know.🤷♂ Anyway, you were all great in the movie & it came out at a time when queer cinema was still finding it's place in society.

Trick is an awesome flick! Had hopes for a sequel with all the promotion several years back, but apparently Trick 2 is not happening after all. Maybe the hype was just to celebrate the 20th anniversary and to tease us.

When I lived in NYC I had 2 life long friends. Each one came out to me and made me promise that I didn't tell the other one. They both wanted to do that when they were ready. I used to go to some of the Gay bars in the Village. I did pretty good for a long time then one day I mentioned something to one of them and didn't realize I had let the cat out of the bag. 'Wait. What did you just say?'.. 'Huh who me' oh damn. Later on the three of us would hang out together and I told them. 'You don't know what a relief it is not to have to keep two secrets.'
@STEVEHAYESTOQАй бұрын
Absolutely! And probably that particular "cat" was well out of the bag long before you released it. LOL!
