Great video. We don't have an MD at our church despite having a full band, but I want to learn how to play this way just in case I ever go to a larger church. I got into Worship playing last year after being in a metal band for many years and it's so fun and amazing to learn all of this. It reignited my love for music 100%. The lord works in ways I can't even comprehend.

What settings were you having to adjust while playing? Very busy on the top of the keyboard.

I use several instruments/tones while I play (piano, electric keys, synths, etc.) so I'm blending those tones while I play depending on what song section we're in. Also, my right hand is controlling a lowpass filter that's controlling a Juno-style synth. I increase/decrease the brightness of the filter to get dynamics without having to increase overall loudness.

👍 I have similar controls with my faders. Just couldn’t hear those pads/synths in the mix well enough to tell exactly how it was shifting. Are all sounds in that keyboard or are you using it as a controller for something like MainStage?

You can ignore the question in that, I just pulled up one of your other videos and I can see those 1/4 cables are audio and not pedal cables.

How do you hook the talk back mic to your phone so other people can hear you what do you use
@MusicForTheNationsOfficial Жыл бұрын
The talk back is actually a separate line going into the soundboard that gets mixed into our in-ears just like any other instrument. At the time, we were using Aviom in-ear monitoring systems.

Okay so I have a bit of a technical question. I'm looking for a device I can use to record my in-ear mix with talkback (jack or mini-jack output), but I'd like to do that while simultanioulsy recording video. And I want to do this using my Android Phone, with a suitable app for example. I'm not sure if this is doable though. So can I ask you for advice? What do you use to record? And do you layer audio and video later or is it recorded simultaneously?

So for this video, we used a dedicated Aviom in-ear mixing unit and ran the “out” cable directly into the camera (Canon). We mixed that Aviom unit so everything you hear is what the bandleader would normally hear. Since the audio was directly fed into the camera, the audio was already synced with the video so there really wasn’t any editing or syncing needed. Hope that helps!

Good for praise songs but how do you manage this during worship/ intimate moments. I have found that sometimes the band relies too much 9n the MD and if he doesnt give guidance they cant "think" for themselves. Any thoughts?

For slower songs I found myself just relaying our WL instructions to other musician, except if the song calls for any technical details like syncopation but we almost never use that, or if we need to make chord variation for a chorus. And for intimate moment / flowing worship I just set the set of chord and direct the dynamics of the music in accordance to the WL instruction (we do briefings beforehand). And by dynamic, I mean when to hold back and when to let loose, when to slow down and when to cut all the music except some pads and accoustic guitar, etc.

They’re from Ultimate Ears. I think the UE Live model. Well worth the investment!
