I know it's been pointed out, but that moment at 3:59 where he calls bridge, but then switches to chorus on the fly when the leader holds up the "C" is just really good MDing
@A10B3 жыл бұрын
It’s great to see an MD situation where things don’t go perfectly. That was a seamless recovery calling out the chorus!
@stevesisson21813 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. Being able to feel where the lead is going is not easy. I will vamp between songs at times, but since I'm usually speaking or praying, my drummer keeps an ear out for the way I'm playing the guitar. Having intuitive musicians is a blessing.

The team communication is on point! I’m guessing that the lead heard him say Bridge, which is why he then threw up the “C” hand signal to let him know to go to the chorus. Super seamless and the music didn’t miss a beat
@markxx902 жыл бұрын
Love the communication between worship leader and md, you see him make a c shape with his hand to go the chorus again and md sees it and steers them back. Nice

GREAT work! I’ve a question, egen you ”ramp” up the tempo with the click, do you do that on the fly or is it pre prog.? And how do you do, techwise? Bless from Sweden!
@stevesisson21813 жыл бұрын
sounded to me that someone was doing it manually as he called it out. Not sure if it was him or not though

They have a tech that will tap things into the Ableton track from backstage for spontaneous moments.

@@stevesisson2181 I agree, I don't think in this situation they were using tracks at that point at all. It sounds like the band is playing 'free-live'.

@@padenbergdall3451 Yes, this happens at the main campus. I didn't think they were using tracks at all, but then that last piece when Ed calls for the fire seems to cancel just what I thought... Interesting! Ableton Live is powerful...

@@JorgeSilvestrini yeah, he's calling out tempo changes that go into effect afterward, just didn't know if it was backstage or front of house triggering.

Hi, a question regarding click, when you go from rubato to tempo, who is starting the click? thanks for great videos P
@samtichenor31193 жыл бұрын
most likely their drummer, most of the time when teams do something not planned in ableton they ether have the ability to change tempo in ableton via midi or they have a boss DB90 that is also in the ears where the drummer can just tap in the tempo.
@pernordbring29353 жыл бұрын
@@samtichenor3119 Thanks! Does everyone, both musicians and vocalists have click in their monitor?
@stevesisson21813 жыл бұрын
@@pernordbring2935 I can't speak for all, but I know our team has the click ... though some of our vocalists aren't fans
@ccw393 жыл бұрын
Yeah, looking at the video I’m pretty sure it’s the drummer. I think he has a laptop on his left side which is why he’s playing one handed as they slowly speed up the tempo…using his left hand to increase the BPM
