The dollar artificially makes US GDP inflated. This is why US will fight a war to defend the dollar at all cost. If you want to have a better idea, use PPP. Inflation in the US is going crazy, looking at that GDp gap in terms of dollars is highly misleading. The moment the USD start to crumble and the debt bubble burst, the GDP would flip overnight. USA is undergoing a mirage right now. Many americans will be absolutely shocked when it happens. Forget being number 2. America might just become a third world country.
@bin.s.s.16 сағат бұрын
According to the IMF stats China's GDP has surpassed the US long time ago, since 2015. And their economists say that in the battle field, armies fight with PPP, not nominal GDP.
@BeelP.Күн бұрын
The real reasons for the misleading gap between US and Chinese GDP no longer narrowing are 1) the high inflation rates in the US in recent years, hence a high nominal GDP growth rate for the US, and 2) the strong US Dollar given the high US interest rates in the recent 3 years, hence a rise in the USD denominated US economy and a concurrently weaker Renminbi, hence slower rise in translated USD denominated GDP growth for China. However, this in no way measures the relative improvements in living standards vs US that China has achieved in recent years.

We're witnessing in real time just how fast Europe can deteriorate. US with its dollar hegemony and the ability to instigate wars will enable them to last a lot longer. China on the other hand is uniquely different, it cannot be analyzed correctly nor accurately through Western perspectives, that's why looking back in time most anaylitics and forecasting on China had been proven wrong.

Either the people who made these are idiots or they hope their audience are idiots. The title says why China will *never* surpass US while all the evidence concern * short-term* problems, many already overdated. Also a country's economy is measured by GDP PPP, not GDP, and China has already surpassed USA. Huawei has bounced back with new chips. In fact the video posted the rebound but only focused on the negative data. Recently a Japanese expert, upon examining a Huawei phone, says China is 3 years behind in chip technology, not the 10 or 15 the West is hoping for. Also, the Chinese can now make their own lithography machines. Furthermore Dutch ASML, defying the US, is resuming trade with China. The US tariffs only caused a temporary dip in China export. China is the number one trading partner of more than 120 countries. With the rise of BRICS, the new non-US clearing house, and non-USD trading currencies, China's economy will pivot away from the US. What will the US replace China with? Mexico? The backdoor for China? Non-Western countries are now all turning their backs to the US while gravitating towards BRICS. Bottom line: The foundation of the US economy is forcing other countried to import cheap goods and absorb US inflation through dollar dominance and its military. Chinese economy is based in voluntary bilateral trade with other countries. Only one of these will last.
