I think the mom is not being the MOST supportive.. I feel for her for sure, I’m sure every mom would feel the way she is acting. But she’s overly emotional and is putting all her own pain back on her daughter. I appreciate much for making a film which explains a girl's problem and how a girl should react to it. A women should not leave her family, career and friends just for marriage. The society tells to adjust to all these voilences as you are married, nobody is gonna share your pain. All my girls, I tell you that to be bold that you can lead a life as single mother, women. we women were more powerful than men physically, mentally. In the world, the most non tolerable pain is giving child birth. When a woman give through that pain for her 1st child. And after experiencing that pain, when she dedicates and got the guts to face the pain for her 2nd child... It's wow!!! How strong and bold she is!!! This is a brilliantly taken movie. Simple, harsh and to the point. The end made me gasp! Some dialogues had deeper meanings that can only be comprehended at the end. Nevertheless, the movie also subtly highlighted benevolent sexism which could have been avoided or handled differently, in my opinion. The part where the mother says "ennalaiye thanga mudiyala, unga appa nala yepadi thangiga mudiyum"...like somehow the mothers pain is insignificant when compared to the fathers. That dialogue didn't really add value to the movie so could have been avoided. In simplest of actions and speeches patriarchy exist and one has to be extremely critical if they truly wish to combat it. Please take this as positive criticism. Best wishes to the team...please continue to make such meaningful movies.
