Tombstone and Quigley Down Under are probably the first two westerns I would recommend.

Although I haven’t really looked through the entirety of this channel I truly love and enjoy what I have seen so far. As an animator and theology student the idea of Combining Theology and film and showing the power of storytelling through the lense of the Christian faith is truly awesome to say the least. God bless you guys!

Can I suggest a crowd-funder for Eleanor? I'd be happy to chip in to raise fund to buy her a surname. Nate gets 3 names, and Eleanor only got one, and I just wondered if there was any way the viewers could help remedy this? Or is she the podcasting equivalent of a South American footballer and only has 1 name? Pele, Romario, Ronaldo etc.

Hi all, there's a jump cut at 04:05 where we had to cut a segment for copyright reasons where we were talking about the Jumanji sketch on SNL kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpTHc5acgc19jLs which we featured in Why storytelling is the front line kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYm3cmh9Z7yoppY

Is there a review of the LOTR films on Reformed Mythologist? Surprised by the opinion they were unnecessary movies!

I mean, Arda is a world where there is an all-powerful Christian creator god, and apparently this god can forgive murderers, thieves, rapists and sadists, but he can't forgive orcs because Morgoth once enslaved their ancestors and tortured them until they went mad. Also, this all-powerful god apparently can't reduce the influence of evil on their minds. So unless an all-powerful god saved your ancestors from Morgoth, you guys are evil and incapable of redemption (unlike murderers, thieves, rapists and sadists, whose ancestors were okay). Am I right in understanding that the Christian writer Tolkien meant exactly this, that there are peoples genetically incapable of redemption?

I thought Pagan was to do with nature worship

You're thinking Animism. Paganism is the worship of pantheons of many gods. Zeus, Mars, Wodan, Baal, Osiris. They are in essence super powerful humans with specific power over something in the world. Sometimes it's a natural thing, like oceans, other times it's something distinctly human like metallurgy. Animism on the other hand worships "brother fox" and "mother tree" for the supposed spirits in natural things.

Look, Im an atheist, Im not huge on Christianity to begin with, but modern Pagans, you are worshipping a slur towards none Christians. Paganism is not a religion, its just every other religion Christians didnt like. Thats like calling yourself a Pagan because you're Hindu. If you were worshipping the Norse or Greek pantheon specifically that would be different, but not in a good way. Instead you're 'practising' a skewed version of the religion, completely unrepresentative of what the people who actually practised the religion did indeed practise, as all modern iterations of Norse myths (beyond those carried by word of mouth) are fundamentally Christianised, the same with Celtic myth (to my own personal annoyance, Im British, and thus it greatly pisses me off how our ancient culture is practically lost), as the stories and practices of these faith were only written down post Christianisation, and most of what else survives is watered-down folklore (the Tuatha-De- Danann becoming fairies for instance) not to say said folklore doesnt have merits and value in itself. And then with Greek myths, sure they are contemporary sources of the actual religion as it was being practised, but they are fragments from centuries apart, showing different iterations of the religion across the millennia it was practised. The same can be said for ancient Egyptian. Its not the same as religions like Taoism or Hinduism, where there is a continuous traceable line between modern writings/practices and their ancient counterparts. So, in my opinion, worshiping a dead, bastardised version of a faith is both disingenuous and disrespectful. If you want to practise versions of these religions, be my guest, but conflating multiple religions, taking skewed versions of scripture, and referring to them as 'Pagan' in any positive sense, is ridiculous and disrespectful.
