The significance of the holly ties back to the myth of how Baldur's mother asked for all of creation to agree never to harm him, forgetting only the mistletoe; which led to his downfall when Loki fashioned a spear out of it and had another blind god toss it at Baldur.

Christian myself but looking at this from a narrative perspective, purely for the sake of a story, there is something interesting if the ancient gods were real, and how they would react to learning that their power is utterly irrelevant in the face of a god that's actually _the_ God. One that's impossibly ancient, and impossibly powerful. One that will command followership the likes of which they can't even grasp. One that would look at them the way a human looks at an ant; nothing but a passing curiosity. Something that could be stamped out without even noticing. Your dreams of glory amount to little more than a tickle on its toes.

The message suggests that every religion has a beginning and an end and that the true power of the gods lies in their worshippers. Without belief, the gods fade into oblivion. Odin came to this realization too late; he understood that his existence depended on the people who believed in him. This idea parallels the themes in the series "American Gods," where older gods and deities, including Jesus, are being replaced by the new power of technology.

Lmfao when nobody studies religions or history so they don't know that every crummy religion and old form of worship like Norse greek roman Chinese Buddhist Egyptian dieities all come from Dharma all cultures and languages comes from Satya Sanathana Dharma The True Eternal Law of God aka Hinduism. Most people are too stupid to grasp or understand this truth as many can't read and don't want to get smarter or become more aware of our past ancestors truth etc. Christ was a hindu yogi never started a dog shit religion and would be ashamed of it and it's many non christ like practioniers. Go read and do research my children yall have barely started. Indoctrinated into one religion and never bother to explore or study everything and see which is most logical scientific morally correct and has evidence the only one that checks these boxes is Dharma everything else falls short heavily. Christianity and Islam both believe in 6,000 year old flat earth also mant demonic verses like obey your slave master, women must marry their rapists, and deuteronomy 20 10-14 which essentially says you can rape pillage steal from enslave and kill anyone of different beliefs. Only fools would believe these things to be holy or correct, none of those shrieking verse are Christ like. Christ was never crucified had children and a wife. The original and oldest Bibles Sinai and Ethiopian both mention he had kids and wife no crucifixion bs. The universe runs on karma anyone observant enough can see karma unfold with those around them and their self. Realize the self like Christ and Buddha don't cling to the trap of religions thst make people hateful fearing dumber and more close-minded You are the divine, God is everything, as are you awaiting to awake from your deep slumber that is this earthly reality and other realms and dimensions
@aaaaaaa7697 your dumb af your ancestors were Hindu. Now you believe some black scientology Mormon on yt with no evidence no books just pure bs pulled from the ass. Yall monkeys Crack me tf up

Dragon Age 2 was rushed, but it was obvious that its main problem was lack of funding not malicious intent, so it could be forgivven. Dragon Age 3 "Inqusition" was okay, it had a few cringe elements in it, but these could be ignored and was not important. this game is so bad and cringe that it seems more like someone who have never seen or played any of the others are trying to overtly mock what the others tried to build up

I’m a Germanic Pagan(for 10 years, used to be Christian), this video probably popped up for me because of other content I watch. That being said I watch this show and thought the portrayal of my Gods was disgusting. It was a total corruption of what the Germanic Gods stand for. To put the Jotunn as the good guys in this film was for me as putting satan as a good guy in a film for you. Our values were no way reflected in this film at all. Also Ragnarok is a story of rebirth not the death of all the Gods. That being said if you want to know what we believe: The Declaration We as adherents of Germanic Paganism and its tradition(s) hereby make the following declaration of our faith and praxis; we are followers of the traditional pre-Christian religion of the Germanic peoples, including its various traditions and customs, and thereby of the ways of our highest ancestors; we hold to the wisdom bequeathed to them by our Gods. 1. We believe as our highest ancestors did, and commit ourselves to their customs. We endeavour to honour our ancestors and the Gods authentically by way of orthopraxy as attested in the historical literature on Germanic Paganism. 2. The tradition(s) of our ancestors were/are historically comprised of ancestry, region and language, being comprised of many religious systems; these are to be categorised as in-group religion, in-group belief and in-group culture. 3. We hold to the ways of our highest ancestors detailed throughout the attested historical literature, and their socio-cultural values. The family and traditional structure therein is a fundamental element of our religion. We recognise the natural union between man and woman and align ourselves with the hierarchical, and patrilineal values of our ancestors outlined in our historical tradition(s) and culture(s). The values of our ancestors are likewise reflected in that of the divine and our religion acknowledges that hierarchy is a fundamental truth of reality, with the righteous deeds of the Gods being our example and the example our highest and most loved ancestors followed. 4. We hold to the ways of our highest ancestors and deeds of the individual in accordance with the traditions outlined by them. Good custom is coterminous with good morals; the actions, words, and character of the individual are of paramount importance within our tradition(s). 5. We strive, in accordance with our ancestral tradition(s) and custom(s) as outlined by our historical source literature, to be as great as our highest ancestors in both religious practice and in life. We believe that our highest ancestors are, on the whole, the ideal standard we are to follow with reverential devotion. 6. We hold it to be true that our existence is not a coincidence nor an accident; we believe that we were shaped by our Gods. We likewise believe in the various divine, familial afterlife, and familial reincarnation tradition(s) according to our attested literature. Note: This declaration is not intended to be a political statement. Signatories may share no views in common other than those declared here. Written by Saxon C. Philpott, Paul A. Pitman and Clinton J. McMillan. Code of Conduct Addendum We hold that the union of the husband and wife, is of a structured partnership. The purpose of the union being both functional and symbolic. Functionally, each gender supplements the other’s personal and gender specific strengths/weaknesses, with neither gender being lifted to a status of greater value than the other. The marital union emulates the divine unions of the many Gods and Goddesses, and the reserved agency of divinities. The roles of the husband and wife, father and mother, are valuable and unique to their respective roles. We hold great importance for the household. The father and the mother are to place parentage of their children above all other priorities, to ensure they raise their child(ren) in a functional home which caters to the wellbeing of their child(ren). We hold that it is the duty of the father and mother to not only preserve the wellbeing of their child(ren), but also their own wellbeing; to ensure the protection of their child(ren), and to ensure that the child(ren) are provided with a stable foundation for the future. We hold that the traditional line of descent is patrilineal, that is, father to son. This is fundamental to the social order of our culture. The roles and expectations of men that we hold to be right and true are as follows: 1. We hold that a man is to be known by his deeds; it is the traditional role of a man to cultivate a good reputation by their actions, uphold good character, and morals. A man is to be fair, generous, and practice reciprocity towards good and ill alike. 2. We hold that men are traditionally expected to maintain, and protect the peace and order of his family. 3. We hold that as husbands, men are expected to secure a marriage to a faithful woman with good character and standing, and produce children. 4. We hold that as fathers, men are expected to lead, protect, and provide for their families; a father must therefore be the ideal example for his children. 5. We hold that as sons, men are expected to be dutiful, independent, and loyal to their families. Sons are expected to initiate legal retributive justice against those who harm his family. 6. We hold that as brothers, men are expected to protect their families and siblings. Just as sons, brothers are expected to initiate legal retributive justice against those who harm his family. We hereby proclaim that the following actions are dishonourable for men and women to commit: The swearing of a false oath. The breaking of sworn oath. Slandering others. Shaming one’s family. Failure to support one’s family. Neglecting one’s family. Neglecting one’s household. Kinslaying. Failure to initiate legal retributive justice for fallen, or harmed kin. Failure to pay on sworn reconciliation. A lack of self-control. Lacking hospitality for guests. Harming guests in your home. Slander and insults. Failure to address slander. Failure to address physical challenges. Theft. Adultery. Sexual violence of any kind. Violence against women, and children. Cowardice. Effeminacy.

@@Cmc.1984. where's this declaration written 3000 years ago? Or is it just some ad hoc way to incorporate Christian morality into your dress up?

@ oh it’s definitely a modern thing. But all things changing over time. The values are pulled from the Havamal and other sources we know that were up held before Christian influence. You could read The Gremanization of Early Midieval Christianity by James C. Russell if you’d like to learn more. Also, on the larping thing, no one seriously into this likes the people who are into that sort of thing , no one should have to play dress up to be taken seriously by there Gods. It’s above all about venerating your ancestors and the Gods originally worshipped by them. Survive the Jive with Tom Rowsell and OPWW with Pual Waggoner are good examples. Honestly, leaving Christianity for this belief system has fulfilled me and changed me for the better. I fully believe I’m a better father, husband and friend because of it.

Just came across your channel, great video. And, I recently finished the show (probably why you showed up thanks to algorithms lol.) I'm a Christian myself and the Jesus depiction is what drew me to the show. I couldn't believe how not only respectful, but impactful the depiction was. So for fun, I looked up Snyder's response when he was asked the "why" for it. Here's what he had to say: "I think in this one, to me, where we talked about this whole concept of Odin [thinking], "What becomes of me? What happens to my persona?" And the idea that it kind of gets co-opted, stolen in a way, by the Christian God, if you will, or the Christ figure. I just thought it was really fun and kind of a cool thing to kind of explore and look at. Also, it's the idea that this imagery: Christ on the cross [and] Odin on the World Tree. This is ancient stuff. It's not really the domain of a single religious faith, but it has a universal quality that we can find "the why" ourselves. I think that's the message for me. Why it appears in my work so often? I'm not 100% sure. I'll be honest." I never had my hopes up that Snyder was some kind of "closeted believer," and that he was trying to low-key make the point that Christ is King. Still, it was the saving grace (no pun intended) of the show. I'll definitely be checking out the rest of your videos for sure man :)
@SpitshineSneakers7 күн бұрын
I get the point about "portraying sin to be sinful" but I think that in order to do it in a way that benefits a Christian worldview, you have to take proportionality and framing into account. You have to think about the purpose of a portrayal and whether its depiction serves that purpose in the story. I think its a major challenge though because you don't get to control the audience's reaction; if you make a point too subtle then it will fly right over their heads, if you make it too obvious they'll feel like they're being preached to. Perhaps the way I would do it is to put less emphasis on depicting the gore / sex itself and more on the aftermath, showing the characters' dissatisfaction with following carnal desires.

The violence is fitting for the show except when it seems to use it as a revelry in it, the sexually explicit stuff is sinful when it's portrayed this way, it's easy to show the pagan fornication ethos in a way that isn't violence against human dignity.

What I hated of all of Taash story was that she acted like fucking child all the time. In the dinner scene her mother uses the Qunari word for what she says she is, non binary, and I was all "Oh thats cool there is word for in the game and lore! NEAT!" but right away, not even 5seconds past, she starts acting like child and whines and destroyes all immersion on that.
