In Tarragona, Spain, thousands of people gather to witness one of humanity's strangest and most spectacular contests: building the human towers of Catalonia. Adorned in colorful costume, hundreds of “castellers,” or tower builders, form elaborate human structures that soar into the sky. Containing up to 10 tiers and rising nearly 50 feet high, sometimes, the towers do fall …

It's like I'm watching something philosophical ... Like these towering structures, it needs a foundation ... And that foundation serves as the adults, who are supporting and carrying the youth towards their highest dreams and goals, an excellent reminder that we continue to prepare the betterment of the generations to come

This is a beautiful tradition . It requires immense trust and teamwork . I don't think there is much ways other than this to really bond with your teammates . Bravo .

we indians have same tradition which celebrated in Mumbai, but government restricted height of the castle and banned children of younger age from taking part in it

A curios fact abot that's competition is that when a colla or club is small or going to do a big structure that needs more members, yo can always see some people from other colles hemping them to be enough in the base.

We have these human towers every year on Janmashtami in India. It is called Dahi handi celebrations. It is sometimes risky, so supreme court has limited the height of human tower.

For what I've seen on youtube, the Indian towers are wider, but not as tall as Catalan ones (although lately they've been getting taller, the Catalan record is 10 levels and I've heard Indian record is 9!! Correct me if I'm wrong). Every culture has its own style! :)

Technically, you should refer to them as The Catalans because they are from the Autonomous community of Catalonia. Some locals will get very angry if you call them "Spanish". I always use the term "Iberian Peninsula".

@@56independent42 Mmmm, actually not, You cannot compare an Union of kingdoms with an actual kingdom, in the clase of Sangría, if you're talking about where its from, it would be correct that its from Castille and not from Spain. Catalonia is a region as Murcia is, as Castille is etc. We as Catalans, having other language apart of the national one, having cultural diferences with the other regions of the contry, etc. Are not comparing all the time or saying we are other thing that the rest of Spain is or not. I repeat we Catalans, not Catalan separatism

Uk is a bunch of countries as you OF COURSE May know, and Spain is one country, that has some regions with partiuclarites such as local languages, dances, folklore, etc. As my region, wich is Catalunya. Its actually called La Muixeranga ... And it happens allover the medittaranean coast .. not just Barcelona .. I have personally seen these in front of Town halls and churches in the smallest of towns and village - Example Alchemesi, Torrente, Lalcudia, Suece, Cullera, etc etc though the music choosen for this is crap ... usually there is a traditional spanish or catalan or valenciano village band to play the music in a specific way to build the momentum of the people.
