Some crazy news from Behringer! :)
It looks like Behringer will soon release a new 6-voice FM synthesizer/groove box inspired by legendary Yamaha DX7 and Yamaha CS-80 synthesizers! 🥰
FM synthesis is the sound of the 80s, 90s but also it fits very well modern music genres! FM Synthesizers can be programmed to play all kinds of sounds ranging from piano and guitar to modern bass and percussion 🥁

Theres already the Korg Volca 1 & 2, both have sequencers and 3 and 6 note polyphony respectively, and are affordable. What dies this being to the table? I far prefer the internal batteries in the Volcas too

Behringer has Yamaha CS-80 filter and it has a groove box as well. I also hope it will have a global tuning in hz and I was trying to find out if Volca has tuning in hz because this is for me the first thing I check with synths. I also don’t think that Behringer will be expensive.

I got Opsix and sold it…I did like it but I was missing an analog filter really. Nice synth (probably with more voices but I cannot remember now exactly) but I think that BX700 with CS-80 analog filter (even with fewer voices) will be something outstaning! Cannot wait for its release! 🤗

It is basically a Sonicware Liven Bass&beats with a DX7 engine and an Arturia Microfreak look.

All synths have a keyboard 🎹 and knobs …and/or a display. Arturia is not the first synth with that kind of a keyboard…this is Buchla style of a keyboard. Some even say that Buchla wasn’t the first.

I'm not sure anyone ever programmed an FM synth to sound like any acoustic piano. A Fender Rhodes, yes.

Well depends how to look at it. FM synthesis has its own charm and character, of course, but it can emulate any instrument really and it does it better then traditional analog synthesis.

@@amazeus1980 "it can emulate any instrument really" apart from acoustic pianos, strings, brass, drums... They can try, but they always sound dreadful compared to sample-based instruments. My MODX has AWM2 (sample based) and advanced FM. There aren't any presets on it for acoustic piano, for example, that use the FM engine. FM has its uses, but to my ears it is inherently more limited. Others love it, and that is fine. I had various FM synths in the 80s. Great bass patches.

@@RebeccaTurner-ny1xx I think that all synths sound dreadful! 😂 That is why good practice is to use effects with any synth. Yup…FM bass is cool but FM synthesis can also make lots of nice bell-ish percussive sounds. If we talk about the rest of the sounds…well, all synths try to imitate natural instruments but this is not the end goal…it is about how you play the patch.
